Angelo's Burgers

Elijah's POV:

It's 11:15 a.m. and I'm still sitting on the lifeguard tower. I've been here since 9 a.m.

It's been a slow day, not many people are at the beach right now.

So I decide to pick up my phone and start texting Maddie.

Me: Hey Madds, what's up?

She responds 2 minutes later.

Maddie: Oh nothing much, u?

Me: U know, just sitting up on the lifeguard tower, guarding life's, because I'm a lifeguard.

Maddie: I'm aware of that Mr. Lifeguard LOL.

Me: So, Maddie, do u want to maybe go to Angelo's Burgers after my shift is done? I only have 45 minutes left then Jake* will take over.

Maddie: Sure, u know I love Angelo's Burgers, and I have something really important to tell u. I'll come meet u at the beach when I'm ready.

Me: Sounds good. C u then :-)

Maddie: :-)

Now, I've just got to wait 45 min.

"Hey Elijah, you ready?" Maddie asks as she comes walking up to me.

I look at my watch. It is now 11:58 a.m.

"Ya, I'm ready. My shift is just about over." I tell Maddie, "Yo Jake, it's your turn." I toss him a towel.

"Ok, thanks man" Jake answers.

I climb down from the lifeguard tower.

"Let's go" I tell Maddie.

We walked to Angelo's Burgers since it's right around the corner.

I ordered a burger with lettuce and tomato, I also ordered a strawberry smoothie, and Maddie ordered... the same thing I got.

"So, Maddie, you said that you had something really important that you needed to tell me"

"Oh my gosh, yes!" She says getting really excited.

"Okay, then what is it?" I asked getting excited too, my best friend is excited so I have to be excited too.

"I... am entering... in the...-" she starts

Then I interrupt her by saying, "Hurry up and get on with it!!!"

"Iamenteringinthejuniorsurfingcompetitionin3weeks!!!!!!" She just blurts out so fast I can barely understand her.

Maddie's POV:

EEEEPPP!!!!!!

"Wait, say that again." Elijah says sounding confused.

"I am entering in the Junior Surfing Competition in 3 weeks!!!!" I say so that he can understand this time.

"Oh my gosh Maddie, that's great!" He gives me a big hug.

"I know!!!" I says still excited.

We finish our food. I still scream a little ever now and then. People are staring at us, but I don't even care!!!

"Well, if your gonna win we've got to go practice." Elijah tells me when he finishes his burger.

"Agreed" I say.

We both go home, change into our bathing suits, and grab our boards. We run outside at the same time and head for the ocean.
