Lauren
I tried to call Ollie back but he didn't pick up.
"Shit!" I stuffed my phone into my pocket and grabbed the keys for my rental. They could be here any minute and I didn't even know who they were, but if Ollie was scared of them then so was I. I furiously paced the room trying to rack my brains for what I should do. I was all alone in a foreign country with no friends and no idea who the enemy was. This kind of stuff did not happen. My phone buzzed in my pocket and I hastily got it out only to be disappointed to see a message from Chloe.
Having fun with Tom?? ;-) WHERE'S THE PIC I WAS PROMISED!! Xxx
Tom...
He had a mansion with weapons and stuff and he was good with secrets. He also saved my life only hours ago which makes him my hero for life. I had made my decision. I would drive the car to Tom's and ask for his help. I pulled on my coat - my gaze lingering on my humongous suitcase and a groan escaped my parted lips. I would have to leave it behind. If I was going into hiding then alerting everyone in the bar that I was leaving the premises for good didn't sound like a good idea.
I ran down the steps jumping the last two before throwing myself through the door and out into the bar. I weaved my way through the crowd - eyeing the rowdy throng nervously for any signs of someone following me. "Ow!" I collided with something hard. A set of strong hands steadied me and I knew who they belonged to before I had even looked up.
"Lauren?"
"Lewis." I frowned at him. He looked a little wild, his irises whilst not black were certainly a darker shade of blue, his jaw was clenched and his grip on my arms was a little too tight. He looked mad. I shrank back from his glare, fighting the inclination to actually whimper in fear.
Steadily his expression changed, his eyes returned to their normal hue and all his features softened. So at least he wasn't angry at me, but I pitied the poor bastard who he was mad at. "Sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going." I wriggled free from his grasp and attempted to step past him but he moved to block my path.
"We need to talk."
Oh my God so not the time!
"I'm kind of in a hurry, maybe later-"
"I'm sorry, I came on too strong and it freaked you out. Are we still good for our date?"
"Yes sure," I replied distractedly - trying to step past him but again he moved to block my path. This was becoming rude and brought us back to his bullying personality which I did not like.
"Lauren, what's wrong?"
I looked around, everyone suddenly looked sinister and suspicious. Was that guy really playing snooker or was he just pretending to? Who was that woman on the phone to? Was John really cleaning those glasses or was he standing there to listen to our conversation better? I needed to get out of here.
"Nothing, there's just somewhere I really need to be."
Lewis frowned and crossed his arms in front of him.
"It's late, you shouldn't be going off anywhere on your own."
"I'll be fine." Staying here would be more dangerous.
