Lewis
An eruption of pain had struck me, sending me into a heap on the ground but just as quickly - it had vanished. I'm not even sure what exactly the pain was, searing and sharp or colossal from impact but it had felt extremely intense.
Alpha!
Shayne called in my head - insistently ripping through my mind to open our communication link. I opened it wide up, already marching out through the hallway and headed for the front door.
Report, I commanded in my Alpha voice.
The Luna's in danger. Twenty armed individuals attacked the inn and opened fire on her. I broke your order to keep her inside and managed to cover her escape. She successfully drove off but I've lost her scent and I've no idea if more of them are out there.
I was frozen on the porch to the pack house. She'd been attacked. I thought back to earlier this evening... she'd tried to leave the inn and I hadn't let her. I had trapped her inside and abandoned her to do paperwork. I'd failed my mate. I forced open the mind link to entire pack.
All werewolves the Luna's missing, likely in need of medical aid. I'm ordering a full search focusing on the main roads. She must be brought to the safety of the pack house.
My clothes ripped to shreds as I morphed into my wolf whilst leaping off the porch. I headed straight for the inn - keeping tabs on my strongest warriors to make sure that they were all coordinated and covering different areas. Shayne called in my head once more.
The inn is swamped with cops, he warned. I shifted course - deciding on the main road south of Paradise Falls.
I've captured two male attackers and am taking them in for interrogation to the pack prison.
Good idea.
I felt Shayne's relief that I wasn't angry with him. Right now I was too angry with myself. I should have brought Lauren to the pack house the moment I met her and now she was suffering for my indecisiveness. That would change. I promised that if God would just let her be alive that this time I would keep her close. She would never leave my side again. My wolf whimpered.
I can't feel her presence anymore.
Vomit caught in my throat, this could only mean one thing. Lauren's heart had stopped beating.
George, our adorable geek...
I only just managed to pull off to the side of the road when the Alpha barked through the pack mind link. I clutched at my temple and rested my head on the steering wheel. A lorry honked its horn and sped past me - rattling my truck. That had been close. I waited for the pain to recede before pulling out onto the road once more
.
The Luna was in trouble, again. She hadn't seemed like the danger type during our time in the diner. I liked her, she was cool and not all dictatorial like the Alpha. I did a turn in the road and headed back into the dark open road away from the pack house. I stepped my foot on the gas and tore past the signs for Paradise Falls. I had to slow down when I passed the inn after noticing all the blue flashing lights. Cop cars littered the scene and a thick crowd of onlookers was huddled together spilling out onto the road. I wondered if that had something to do with the Luna. Seemed like a crazy coincidence if it wasn't.
