Lewis
The threat had been dealt with. We left the monster for the animals to devour. The next hours are going to be unpleasant. It's my duty to speak with the families of the deceased girls. Shayne and I run in wolf form to the pack house. He's silent and our mind link is disconnected. I don't try to open it. I already know what he must be thinking.
What happened? I'm alpha, the strongest, and the fastest and yet it was him and Karl that engaged the creature first. They could have gotten hurt. Yes, I burst in and finished the monster in a matter of seconds but as alpha of our reputable pack, I should have ended it before the others even made it onto the scene. So what the fuck happened?
I had gotten winded. Frigging winded!
I had been running fine one minute when suddenly pain had bombarded my ribs and spine. It was like a brick wall collided into me. My wolf and I didn't understand it. We were becoming weak and now my warriors were noticing. I needed to prove my alpha status to them.
We reached the pack house. The front door opened to reveal a red-eyed Immy. She bowed her head respectively and held up a set of robes. I changed back into my human form and pulled the robe over my naked body. I headed through the house tracing their scent. They were in the study. I braced myself before entering.
"Alpha," A set of voices greeted stiffly. A head of yellow hair bobbed into view, tiny feeble fists collided repeatedly against my chest.
"My d-daughter...where the fuck...o...o...Mary!" I made out through the sobs.
"Helen." Her worried husband tried to pull her away, his eyes wide with fear. Gently I restrained her wrists. I waited until the mother looked up at me through bleary bloodshot eyes.
"I'm sorry for your loss," I apologised, my voice faltering under her accusing gaze.
The woman sagged in my arms and I released her wrists and put a comforting arm around her - rubbing soothing circles on her back. "Mary and Henrietta died bravely defending their pack. They put up a heroic fight and shall be honoured for that," I promised. Immy appeared at my elbow with strong drink and glasses on a tray. I washed down the bitter bile of guilt with some of the finest whiskey.
Discreetly I pulled out my cell phone and called Simon. He answered after a tense interlude.
"Alpha," his voice sounded husky and strained.
"Is the Luna safe?"
"Yes, sir."
"Good."
Simon, a werewolf warrior...
...Fuck
Lauren
I came here in search of vampires. I discovered the existence of werewolves. Of course I had thought a little about zombies, mermaids and werewolves - wondering if they were real also. Still seeing the action sequence was something else. I burst into a fit of giggles. I'd been asked out by a werewolf! I couldn't stop the hysterical laughter that overcame me. Part of my brain registered that I was in shock.
I cast down the torch's beam and illuminated the remains. I remembered the snarls he had made and those amber eyes. I'd been terrified. I was still terrified. Is that how Jessica had felt? I guessed that now I needed to revise my hypothesis and entertain the idea of a werewolf visiting my old home and killing my little cousin. I re-watched the footage I had taken. It was remarkable but it wasn't enough. I needed to own this story. I needed more information.
