Chapter 11

Despite my reluctance, I know now was the time for me to call back Sam and assure him that I was doing fine after that disaster of a phone call as I am sure he must have been worried for me, the guy may be malicious but was in no way inhumane. I also needed to inform him about the meeting.

I dialled his number waiting for him to pick up. As soon the call connected his frantic tone greeted me asking me if I was fine.

" Xav, are you okay. Why were you not picking up your phone? I even called Phillips as you didn't want me to call Alpha but he just said that you were in a meeting with Alpha himself. Are you still having panic attacks Xav or this situation triggered it, you need to get in contact with your therapist. Are you listening to me, Xav", he said in a single breathe not giving me an opportunity to reply to any of his questions but when he started talking about my therapist, I just wanted him to shut up and that's exactly what I told him to do.

" Shut up Samuel, I so don't need your advice on how I need to handle my problems. I am more than capable of dealing with them myself. So I would appreciate it if you don't try to meddle into my matters", I was about to continue but then again would it even be Sam if he doesn't interrupt me.

" Do you really need to be an asshole all the time. I was really worried here when you stopped replying and all I could gather was that you rushed out of the room not two seconds after your panic attack. You may not understand the concept of humanity but unfortunately, it compels me to be considerate of even an arrogant asshole like you. Anyway I am really sorry Alpha that I bothered you with my concern and maybe if it suits you we could postpone our petty fights to another day and instead do something about rescuing that child", Sam was positively seething having taken utmost offence of my words.

I decided to do just that, that is forgetting our little argument and instead, tell Sam what I had initially intended to tell him all because I wanted that boy to be safe with his parents as soon as possible and so not because I was feeling a little bit guilty for lashing out on Sam despite knowing that he had meant well and was just concerned for me.

" Very well Sam, let's get down to business. I have talked with the Alpha of Red Moon Pack and he wants me to take the reigns of the rescue mission and I have decided to have a combined meeting of all the elders, new and old people of the power of not only our pack but all the three packs. I expect you to attend the meeting along with the others at the Blue Moon Pack via video call. Am I clear?" I just touched the surface with him as he will be informed of everything else in the meeting along with others so there is no point in wasting time now.

" Crystal Alpha. I suspect that the Alpha of Red Blood is informing the Alpha of Blue Moon about this meeting at the moment as he is taking a call right now. He too is very concerned and ready to do anything he can to rescue the child he very much considers to be his only nephew", Sam said letting me know that we would have the full support of the Blue Moon Pack which is the biggest pack in North America, improving our chances drastically.

All our beef aside, Sam does make a promising head warrior with his shrewd thinking and skills to back it up with. He was indeed a great asset to the pack. Don't ever expect me to say the same to his face.

" Very well, is there anything else that you need to inform me about. If not, I have a meeting to head in half an hour and I need to really sort out my thoughts and maybe come up with some cohesive plan to free the poor boy from that devil", I said stressing on the fact that I needed to get this call over with and move on to more serious business.

" I will let you get to it as there is not much going on here", he said and I was about to disconnect the call when he spoke once again, his voice sounding overly cautious, " Please take care of yourself", with that he disconnected the call not giving me a chance to reply, not that I had anything to say, quite taken aback by all the care Sam has exhibited towards me over a single call which quite frankly surpassed all the years we have known each other taken together. I felt a weird tingling in my belly. I really do need to take care of my health, I can't go into battle with an upset stomach.
