Chapter 15

" We need a plan of attack and we need it now", said Alpha Lucas his voice dripping with determination but this eyes were filled to the brim with so much pain that I couldn't even look him in the eye.

" I thought...", started Alpha Charles but Alpha Lucas raised a hand signalling for him to stop.

" I am not done yet. I know what was going through each of your minds. You thought that as soon as I was done with this call I am going to rush in here snivelling like a coward and ask all of you to forget about everything we have planned until now. You thought that I am going to tuck my tail and give in to Rico's demand and let me tell you you weren't very far off. That's what I had planned to do but then he told me about HIS genius plan, about how he is planning on taking over the entire werewolf race and establishing his own kingdom. How our children were our weaknesses and he plans to use it against us as many times as he has to, to reach his goal of making every Alpha of every werewolf pack bend the knee before him. And what he wanted from me in return of Ramsey's life is to surrender my pack and to declare him the new Alpha. He was gracious enough to tell me how he then plans to use the resources my pack has to offer to further force the other Alpha to surrender before him", said Lucas, his eyes full of tears and so much desperation that I was having a hard keeping my tears in check.

" He wants to make so many others suffer the same fate as my son and I. You all have already told me times and again how cruel he is so how can I put the life of my people who have always trusted me with their everything in the hands of a monster. Save my son's life but endanger so many others. I don't know what to do I don't want to lose Ramsey but I also can't do what Rico wants me to. Please help me", whimpered Lucas and he would have fallen to his knees had his beta not caught him. It was a pitiful sight nowhere fit for an Alpha of calibre similar to that of Lucas. But you know what they say about family being your greatest strength and weakness at the same time.

Instead of sitting there and pitting him, I wanted to actually help him. He said we needed a plan of attack and that's what I am going to give him. Rico wants to dominate and rule over the werewolves but I will make sure that soon he is not even capable of breathing let alone make anyone else suffer the same fate as Ramsey and I.

" Did he say anything else", I asked wanting to know everything that was spoken on that phone call. Every word of his could be a clue for us. My dad had once told me that the monster was very word smart and loved to confuse the shit out of people. He never spoke too much but still, I wanted to dissect each word of his and hopefully find something which can help us defeat him.

" No, he didn't disclose anything. His words were very measured and he made sure not to give anything away. He just put forward his demand and he sounded so sure of himself, it's like he believes that there is nothing that can stop him from getting what he wants this time around. It's like he thinks it's very much a reasonable bargain for me to trade my pack in return of my son. There is not even a speck of doubt in his mind that I have no other option but to agree. His surety erks me so much that I just want to bite his head off", replied Lucas, the sadness giving way to anger. His wolf was making his presence known, thirsty for the blood of the monster who dared to harm his pup.

" This is exactly what he had wanted to do all those years ago and this time he thinks that he has everything he needs to accomplish what he has set out for. He must have given you a deadline, hasn't he?, asked dad and Lucas nodded and said, " One week and then he starts hurting Rico in ways I can only imagine. Those being his exact words. He promised that he won't hurt Ramsey till then and yet again warned me not to go against anything he says. If he detects even the slightest possibility that we are planning anything then I am going to regret it for the rest of my life."

Those words sent a chill down my spine and suddenly the thought that if anyone in this room was actually a mole then as soon as this meeting is over, Lucas will once again receive a phone call from Rico telling him in vivid details of what horrendous thing he had done to his son just like my father had when he had not complied with Rico's instructions and had gone ahead with his plans of tracking and attacking Rico's hideout.
