My Not So Perfect Mate (boyxboy)

Chapter 25

'Sitting in my office, no matter how hard I try, it is proving just about impossible for me to concentrate on any of the files lying open in front of me. I have never been a fan of paperwork but I also knew that I needed to swallow my dislike for it as it was a major part of the Alpha duties that I needed to partake in.

During the first few weeks of my enlistment as the Alpha of this pack, the boring paperwork had piled quite high, as all I had wanted to do then was to train with the warriors and talk to my pack members, with all the intention in the world to help them in any way I could.

It got so bad and in the end, my dad had to sit me down, intervention style and lecture me on the importance of all the paperwork that was lying untouched on the desk of my brand-new office. I had never looked back ever since, always trying to be up to date with all the bills and contracts.

But today was just not the day for paperwork, this was not my personal opinion in the least, mind you, but it is what my annoying wolf thought, it was just hella bent on being extra annoying today. All his attention seem to be focused on only one thing, no matter how many times I try to force my eyes away, it kept zeroing in on the greatest distraction of all time, which was currently lying curled up on my office sofa, fast asleep.

He looked so small and innocent, nothing like the ruckus he is. Time and time again my attention seems to be drawn to his perfect peachy lips, they seriously looked delicious, ready to be devoured. His we cheeks were a pretty shade of pink, maybe due to exhaustion, maybe due to the close proximity to his mate, well a guy can dream. I-I meant my wolf.

It was taking everything in me to not simply walk up to him and run my fingers through his soft hair. I wanted, no, I actually needed to feel him up close and keep him by my side always and forever.

'Will you fucking stop it. Keep your thoughts to yourself, there is no need to fill my head with them. How can you forget so easily that he was once our sworn enemy, you hated him as much as I did, if not more. So, just stop with your horny desperate thoughts and let me do some work'

'Mate is just so handsome and pretty that I can't get over it. I just want to...'

' I said STOP'

' You are such a sourpuss and don't you dare lie to me and tell me that these thoughts are solely mine, you want to fucking run to his side and stay there for all eternity as much as I do. You don't fucking care about the enemy bullshit'

' That's so not true. I-I don't feel any such thing'

' Mate looks cold', my wolf's tone suddenly turning uber serious, forgetting completely about our ongoing banter. It was as if it could just not bare the thought of its mate being cold. ' Put a blanket on him, now'.

' I am doing no such thing, this is so not a Hollywood romcom and that mate of yours is definitely not a dismal is distress. In fact, he is very much capable of being the reason for my distress, all the fucking time', I argued with my wolf.

But all those were mere words because I was already on my foot, walking towards the cupboard in the corner of my office, which my mom likes to keep stocked with everything you may ever need, if there was, say a zombie apocalypse. I opened the cupboard and took out a soft blanket and moved towards the couch, all the while ignoring the amused snickers of my wolf.

I carefully covered Sam with the blanket and after doing that I should have simply walked back to my desk but here I was just stuck with the knowledge of how gorgeous my mate actually was. I could just lean down and feel those plump pouty lips against mine, this knowledge gave me a thrill like no other.

" Will you stop staring at me as if you want to swallow me whole? I know I am handsome but you are behaving like a creep. Thanks for the blanket by the way', said Sam and then simply turned to his other side and went back to sleep as if he had not just caught me staring at him and had called me out on it.
