Chapter 13

" It's another private number. It must be Rico. He did say he will be calling again soon", said Lucus looking at his phone screen. He looked and sounded petrified, which was justified after all the additional information he had just assimilated about Rico.

Hearing that your son had been abducted by one of the most dangerous and ruthless people the world has ever seen must be terrifying on its own but add to it the fact that the said abductor was also a genius and extremely cunning was like throwing stones at a dead person.

" Answer it Lucus and please don't sound as terrified of him as you look. That monster feeds on other's weaknesses, don't give him the satisfaction", said dad his voice sounding heavy with emotions. It's like everything that Lucas was going through at the moment was just bringing my dad to go back in time, opening each and every one of his old wounds.

His pain was bleeding through his voice and I just wanted to go and hug him, tell him once again that it's alright, none of my sufferings was his fault and the only reason I was even capable of standing here at the moment and even utter a single word after that horrendous incident was because of him.

But now was not the time. Both my dad and I were well aware of the fact that at the moment our pain, our past sufferings needed to take a back seat and we needed to concentrate on our mission of ensuring that Ramsey doesn't have to go through the same pain for any longer than necessary at the hands of that monster.

" H-hello", Lucas structured failing to keep his emotions at bay.

" I am on speaker I see. Who are the other people with you Alpha Lucas who are wanting to listen in to this private conversation of ours? You are really testing me here Alpha, trying to involve more people in this when I have explicitly asked you to keep this between us. I am really starting to doubt your love for your son here, do you even care for him, even a little bit, putting his life in grave danger time and again by going again my words. Did Alpha Aaron of Blood Moon Pack fail to make you understand what exactly I am capable of? I am sure he must have stressed on the fact that I am indeed the incarnation of the devil himself while he offered you his help in rescuing your child", Rico's voice resonated and though every word that came out of his mouth was dripping with venom and threat, it was at the same time very precise and made Lucas breathe hitch.

" Did I hit the nail on the head, Alpha Lucas? Did he not offer you his complete assistance? Well, I don't blame him, he must see it as an opportunity to avenge all the suffering I bestowed on his poor son. But what I am concerned about is whether you agreed to accept his help and are really planning an attack on me at the very moment. And what I am even more concerned about is whether or not you were naive enough to forget that they have nothing to lose but your dear baby boy is right here in the devil's clutches. Do you really want me to harm your child Lucas, as a show you the levels I can stoop to get exactly what I wish for, to make a stubborn person like you to actually obey me?"

Each word that left Rico's mouth manifested into ice shards piercing each and every one of our hearts leaving goosebumps and shivers in its wake.

I for one wanted to actually do nothing more than to see my hands wrapped around his throat and hear him begging for mercy as his life with all his pathetic sins and drastic deeds flashed before his eyes. Nothing would make me or anyone in this room happier than seeing the life drain from that's monster's eyes.

The monster who has always preyed on innocent little children wanting to turn their parents into mere puppets in his hand.

I thought that when I first heard his voice after so many years it will render me a crying snivelling mess bringing back the memories of those ten dreadful days but all it actually did was to make the fire in my burn even brighter and my hunger for justice not only for me but for every being he has ever tormented amplifier by a million.

I will make him regret every threat that has ever left his mouth and every sin he has ever committed.

" No please don't hurt my son. I promise you that I will no longer do anything that goes against anything you have told me so far. Just don't hurt my son. I will tell everyone who knows about this situation that all we need to do is wait and follow your instructions. I promise I will provide you whatever it is that you want, you just need to say the word and it will be done", said Lucus, his entire being shaking like a leaf in the wind.

" Actually that is exactly why I had called you in the first place to tell you what it is that I want from you in exchange for your son. But why don't you be a dear and put me off speaker first? Since if you are going to be smart from now on and put your pride aside and do exactly what I want you to then you won't need these people who are listening in to our call", Rico's said sounding patronizing and threatening at the same time.

" But before you do that, I would like to say hello to my sweet ex-captive boy, Xavier. I have missed you a lot. Now put me off speaker", he demanded but everyone's focus in the room had already shifted towards me, every eye holding heaps of pity in them especially that of my pack members. But my breathing hitched when my eyes met those of Sam's.

An eerie feeling filled my entire being and a  tingling sensation started at the back of my head and reached the very tip of my toes, encompassing me fully. Was my phone on vibration mode?

And what had halted me in the first place was the look in Sam's eyes. His eyes didn't hold the pity I had come to expect whenever Rico was mentioned, instead they reflected the fire burning in my veins to destroy him once and for all.

I know that despite all our clashes, Sam is a good person and a dedicated pack member so it shouldn't come as a shock to me that he was so passionate to end this monster's life. But still, I was trying but failing to come up with even a single reason as to why a simple eye contact with Sam was bringing out such bodily reactions in me.

" His timing is just perfect. It's like he already knows everything that happens in our packs. He is always one step ahead. I am really not sure what will Alpha Lucas reaction be to this phone call and all the threats that Rico keeps sprouting left and right. He may even back out from the plan not wanting to put his son's life in danger and in that case we will also have no option other than respecting his decisions since after all it's his son whose life in on the line", said Dad, it was as if he could read Alpha Lucas like an open book but I knew it was all because he had been subject to similar situations and dilemmas ten years back when he also had to make some extremely difficult decisions and choices.

" A mole", said Phillip looking straight at his best friend as if trying to convey an entire conversation by that single look.
