The girl walked into the Charms classroom early in the morning dressed in her Slytherin robes, the slight heel of her shoes making a rather satisfying sound as she moved, bringing a few students to look up and stare for a while at the dark beauty with her silky hair loose that was reaching her mid-back, eyes made of emeralds taking in every corner of the room before they rested on one girl sitting at one of the front desks in the classroom. The girl that had caught her interest had her book open in front of her and was reading, her eyes briefly taking in the passage, a hand placed against her head, curly, long hair cascading down her back, bronze lips moving without sound coming out.
Ramona Vasquez didn't look away from Jane Gibbs and for the first time in a few days, she walked straight towards her. Her demeanour was confident as she sat down beside Jane, bringing the girl to momentarily look up from her book. She glanced back down, not paying attention before she seemed to realise who it was. Jane froze, her eyes widened and she turned to face her.
"Ramona," she breathed, her hand dropping on the desk. "What are you doing?"
"I've been meaning to apologise," she told her at once. She sent a swift glare at a few of their classmates obviously listening in before she turned to face Jane, the volume of her voice a lot lower. "I know you can't cut them off without reason, that's unlike you and I shouldn't have demanded that in the first place. Can you forgive me?"
"I never thought there was a reason to forgive you in the first place," Jane frowned, "I know why you said all you did. You are right. I just can't do it, though. I'm trying to not talk to them as much as I used to. So far, I don't think they've noticed."
Ramona smiled. "Thank you."
Jane only nodded in response, her frown lifting just slightly. "I missed you."
"Girl, I missed you too," Ramona chuckled, "there's no one in the castle that's quite like you and days seemed to never end without you."
Jane's lips twitched into a small smile. "That's probably the sweetest thing you've ever told me."
"And you can't say it back because you have Scorpius," she sighed in mock exasperation, "you leave me no choice but to murder him."
Jane rolled her eyes and looked away. However, that proved to be a mistake as just this moment, Albus Potter walked in the room. Their eyes met and she rushed to look away, any amusement from before disappearing from her face as she reminded herself of the way he had treated her the last time they had met. The incident in the library was still fresh in her mind and she doubted she could let go of it any time soon.
Ramona caught the exchange between them. Her eyes followed Albus as he looked away from the two of them, his jaw clenched and looking as if he was berating himself until he sat down at a desk as far away from the two of them as he possibly could. She turned to Jane. "Did something happen between you?"
"He was rude," she told her softly, "he thought everything is all sunshine and daises at home. I should have probably expected it. He has given me plenty of reasons to believe he hates me."
Ramona frowned slightly. "But how can he hate you? He doesn't know you."
"I don't know," Jane admitted as she turned to her book. "Sometimes I wonder why Scorpius is friends with him. He must have his reasons, though. It's because I don't know him I'm saying that."
"You still want to get close to him, though?"
Jane looked over at her with a raised eyebrow. "Obviously. I won't let one rude person put a stop in my career."
"You don't need that rude person for your career."
"His favour could help me build that career quicker, though."
