Hermione strangely woke up in the girl's dormitory, in her bed. How did she end up there?! She was sure she was in the same room of the pensive before dropping the tear and she had no idea of how she could've traveled so fast to her current location
The girl searched everywhere for the invisibility cloak but she was unable to find it. After innumerable minutes of useless research, the reasonable realization that the chosen one might've gotten it back caught her. Therefore she snuck out of the girls dormitory and went in the boy's one. She entered Harry and Ron's room and sighed of relief noticing they luckily both were still asleep
~ where the hell could Harry possibly hide his deathly hallow?! ~
She looked on the bed and near the closet but she found nothing, so she went downstairs where the fireplace of the gryffindor common room was, to look for it. She had to act quick. While she was in here looking for the object to get her out, Malfoy was freezing in the cold. Hermione was becoming desperate and seriously starting to consider the option of risking her own safety to save him
~there~
It was on the sofa
"Yes!"
She exclaimed not too loudly, covering her mouth right after
"Lumos"
After putting the mantle on, she settled off to the main entrance of Hogwarts, where the enormous locked gate was. She had to violate the rules, the school rules to save him... well at least it wasn't her first time doing so
~I can't believe I'm doing all of this for Draco freaking Malfoy~
The girl thought at last rolling her eyes. The entrance was literally covered in locks, there were definitely more than 15 only on its lower half. She chose the unlocking charm to get past this difficulty
"Alohmora"
Every lock started to slowly open, one after one until the door was completely safe to open.
Hermione took a deep breath. She closed her eyes trying to remember specific details of Malfoy's memory and all of a sudden she remembered.
Water
Draco had to be near the Black lake. She opened her eyes, threw the invisibility cloak on the ground and and started bolting towards it.
~he couldn't be that far ~
She logically thought. The boy had been way too weak and the demeanor had attacked him almost immediately after he had started searching for his wand.
"Malfoy! Malfoy where are you?! Draco!"
The Gryffindor looked and searched but nothing. It perhaps was way too dark to see clearly her surroundings. More than once she thought she was losing her mind, as even though she believed she had found Draco, the girl then realized it was only a wild animal moving next to her.
She continued yelling. Hermione yelled and yelped and cried and yelled again. But nothing happened.
No answer.
At that point the girl was getting seriously worried and started to nervously run and scream.
~I just hope it's not, no. It can't be too late~
She didn't know how it had happened. But she couldn't act like losing him wouldn't entirely destroy her. The blonde had been able to play a hugely important part in her life over a really short period of time and, useless to say, she became used to him.
Hermione craved for his attention. Every day she woke up from bed and if that day she did as little as catching a glimpse of him in the corridor, that day would've been great. When their eyes met, when he approached her just to talk, when he made her feel special like no one else had been able to.
She wasn't quite sure she would've been able to live without him or move on if something serious happened to the boy she loved.
Damn.
She really did love him
Finally she saw something in the distance... it vaguely looked like a black blanket in the snow.
Granger went to give a closer look to it and found a more dead than alive Draco Malfoy, who had been almost completely frozen by the gelid outside temperature
