"I-I didn't know-w I m-meant so m-much to-o you Herm-mione"

There was a second of silence

"DRACO!"

The girl yelled happily, tugging at his shirt because of her desperation. The girl's crying intensified and her sobs became stronger. She couldn't stop the tears streaming down her cheeks.

She tightened her arms around the boy and refused to let him go. She didn't want to. He was there, with her, alive. She still couldn't fathom it

Suddenly a terrible thought crossed her mind and she remembered the last time they had actually seen each other. Her lips trembled as she tried to contain herself and sniffled continuously.

Hermione knew the reason why he had kept his distance from her, yet she had no intention of telling the blonde. The only thing she could do was apologize for her behavior.

Her features suddenly saddened and she tentatively rose a hand to caress his cheek

"I'm s-sorry for what-"

Draco weakly reached for Granger's hand, his own still shivering, and entwined their fingers together. He tried to smile and his eyes were only halfway opened when he looked at her.

"H-Hermione"

He called her name. More a desperate exhale than a word

"I a-am  th on-ne sorry"

They sincerely exchanged genuine smiles while looking at each other. Hermione swore she could get lost in his eyes. She was crouched beside him and didn't let go of his hands until the ferret attempted something really stupid.

He tried to stand up

"Draco!"

The girl yelped when he fell on the ground, reaching for him as his legs were still frozen and ended up almost banging his head on the muddy grass

~ miserable attempt ~

She thought to herself before gripping his arm and helping him up.

"Let me help you"

At first he was reluctant but when he understood he had no other choice than to remain there, he thankfully accepted the aid she was offering. When they got up he didn't move muscle

"Malfoy, you know that in order to walk you have to-"

"Back to the surnames again, Granger?"

Interrupted the blonde in a low voice, trying to weakly smirk at the girl. She miserably failed to hide her blush because of the close distance that currently separated them

~I missed him~

They slowly, reaally slowly, started heading back towards the completely dark castle. It reminded Hermione of those scary fortresses in Halloween movies, full of creepy monsters.

The only light they had in that moment was the one of the full moon reflected on the lake and she couldn't help her eyes when she gazed at the rays that faintly reached the blonde's face. Illuminating it and making his beautiful features, such as the blue eyes and the platinum hair, stand out even more. She was overwhelmingly mesmerized

"Did you receive my owl?"

He asked after almost a minute of silence, pulling her from her own head. They continued to deeply stare into each other's eyes and Hermione for a moment felt like she might've forgotten his question.

But just for a moment

"Yes, I did. If I hadn't right now you would have been a popsicle"

The gryffindor boldly replied, grinning and admiring his locks

~ a mint one like what your breath smells of ~

That thought crossed her mind so quickly that she hadn't even had the time to think about Draco's ability in legilimency and the slight quick headache she had felt just a second ago.

The slytherin smirked

"It's spearmint actually, all thanks to my toothpaste"

Granger froze, then she carefully lightly slapped him in the face and spent the next minutes trying to ignore what he had just said

She had finally found a way to get the boy to walk faster by putting his arm on her shoulder and leading him in the right direction. However he suddenly took the girl's wand and threw it on the ground on purpose.

She gave him a death stare

~ why does he always have to be so childlish ~

As she bended to take it, Draco's eyes flickered to the girl's lips, and the next thing she knew was that he had slammed his onto hers.
