Prim walked quickly and quietly headed towards their headmistresses study, she needed answers. It could put her mind at ease, or at least she hoped. Primrose felt nervous for some reason as she reached the large wooden double doors of their headmistresses study, it was probably because she didn't know what to expect as she had never been inside before, so she pushed it away and knocked. "Come in" she heard a voice say, so she opened the door slightly before walking into the room and closing the door behind her. Miss peregrine was stood behind her desk smoking and prim stood there awkwardly for a second "ah primrose. How can I help you?" Miss peregrine asked in a kind voice "Uhm I just wondered whether you had any news about my friends? You know whether they had managed to get to any other loops?" Prim asked, Miss peregrine paused for a moment as if she was thinking about what to answer "I'm afraid not dear, but it's still only early days so we won't loose hope just yet okay?" She said with a smile "okay" prim mumbled
"now how are you settling in? Not feeling too homesick i hope, but don't forget that If you are you can always talk to me.. or Emma and Hugh as you seem to have become quite close" miss p said, prim let out a small laugh "yes, everyone has been so welcoming" she gave a weak smile as miss peregrine studied her, sensing something was off "any other worries?" She asked and prim thought for a second "yes. My peculiarity, me and miss dove used to practice it often and I don't want to, you know, fall out of practice so.." miss peregrine nodded in understanding "of course, we can organise that and you may practise with Emma or Hugh if you'd like" prim shook her head quickly "very well, now run off. I'm guessing there are some people who would like to be with you." Primrose nodded with a small smile before leaving the room and shutting the door behind her. She let out a sigh of relief, she was still incredibly worried about her friends but now she felt as if she could talk to their headmistresses about it more.
Primrose stepped out into the sunny afternoon with a small smile and instantly spotted Hugh. Primrose ran over to the boy who was sat with Millard and Horace "shes here!" Hugh cheered making prim giggle. "You guys ready to play now?" Millard asked, picking up a ball prim hadn't noticed before. "play what?" She asked "football of course!" Hugh said putting out his hands for prim to grab and pull him up from where he was sat. The four of them split into teams of two, Hugh and primrose versus Millard and Horace.
The four walked into dinner together after finishing their game (featuring Hugh being incredibly competitive and prim beginning badly but actually getting really good at it) Their Headmistress took one look at them and sighed "how many times do I need to tell you to clean up before coming into dinner!" Primrose looked down at herself only now realising her legs were covered in mud, completely staining her once white socks.
Primrose hurried to change out of her muddy clothes as she was incredibly hungry. Prim changed into a pastel pink floral dress and some black shoes. She then hurried over to the mirror to brush her now pretty knotty hair, She pulled it back to tie up but in the process noticed a small scar forming on her forehead from when she had tripped on her way here, she sighed as she looked at it, it wasn't as if the fact she had a scar bothered her, it was more the memories it brought along with it.
"You look really nice" hugh said quietly as he stood in the doorway snapping her out of her thoughts "Hugh! You scared the life out of me and I could've been naked!" Primrose scolded the boy, who just laughed but prim could feel her face heating up as she thought about what he had said. "Well its a good thing you weren't, come on." Hugh said turning away, prim reluctantly followed him downstairs.
Primrose took her usual seat next to Emma and opposite Hugh before everyone began to eat. When primrose looked up at Hugh he was smirking at her, just before she felt someone kick her leg. "Ouch." Prim said with a small laugh as everyone at the table looked up at her. She knew instantly it was hugh from the stupid grin plastered on his face."What did you do ms. Larson?" Miss Peregrine asked the girl "Oh sorry Miss I just hit my ankle on my chair." Prim said giving hugh a glare making him laugh, miss peregrine gave a knowing look at the two but nodded and went back to eating, just like everyone else.
Prim attempted to kick hugh back but got olive, who was sat next to him. "Ow! Hugh why did you kick me?" She asked in a little voice, lifting her leg up onto her chair and rubbing her ankle. Primrose gave a fake gasp "thats a horrid thing to do Hugh!" She tried to hold her laughter in as Hugh glared at prim before proceeding to apologise to olive.
As their meal ended the group filed out to go and hang out in the warm summers evening, primrose and Hugh were the last two children to leave the room, but just before they left miss peregrine called to prim "yes?" She said, wondering what she had done wrong "its very good to see you back to your usual self again." She gave primrose a small smile before walking out of the room.
