It had been a few days and Primrose and Hugh still hadn't spoken about the kiss, well they hadn't spoken at all, it wasn't like prim was purposefully avoiding the boy or anything... Well not all of the time.
She was just scared of how flustered he made her feel, she just had to think about about him to get butterflies so god forbid he actually talk to her right? Exactly.
Prim was sat in the library, hiding in the corner, completely invested in her book. She was sure no one would be able to find and interrupt her here, but she was proven wrong as Emma practically skipped over and sat herself down next to the girl with a small smile, one that Prim knew Emma gave when she wanted to find something out, and she always got her own way.
Primrose closed her book and placed it down turning her attention to her friend, giving the girl a slightly annoyed look "yes?"
"Soo..." Emma began sweetly, fiddling with the hem of her dress as she spoke "I just spoke to Hugh."
Primrose narrowed her eyes "good for you?" She muttered, not quite sure what she was supposed to reply, or what Emma was even implying. Emma let out a small laugh "in-fact, we were talking about you."
Emma then went on to explain how Hugh had come to talk to her about the fact that Primrose was obviously avoiding him, he was worried he had done something wrong. Which he hadn't. Prim didn't mind that he kissed her, she rather enjoyed and probably wouldn't mind if he did so again. But Emma didn't know that they had kissed so didn't know the reason Primrose was now avoiding the boy, so here she was, attempting to convince Primrose to talk to him.
"Look I don't know what's happened between the pair of you, but you can't avoid him forever." Emma had a very good point, Primrose knew this but she was stubborn so just replied "I know, but I'll try"
Emma let out a small sigh "Just let him talk to you, the longer you put it off the harder it'll get." Prim mirrored her actions and let out a small sigh, looking away and thinking it over. She probably did need to talk to him, what's the worst that could happen?
Primrose didn't realise she had gotten lost in her thoughts until Emma gently tapped her on the shoulder and snapped her back into reality. "What happened that makes you scared to talk to him?" She asked softly.
Primrose brought her legs up to her chest and hugged herself, she wouldn't look over at Emma so just stared straight ahead letting out a long sigh before speaking "he kissed me."
Emma gave an excited gasp and grinned as Primrose finally looked over at her "really?" She asked in slight disbelief, this was the reason she was avoiding him? Primrose just nodded, so Emma asked another question "And you didnt mind that he kissed you?"
Primrose shook her head muttering "I didn't mind" Emma gave another small laugh, Primrose looked up at her in slight confusion "I don't understand you sometimes Prim, what are you waiting for? There's nothing to worry about, go talk to him!"
Spoiler alert: Primrose didn't listen to Emma.
The group were sat at dinner later that evening, Primrose had promised Emma she would talk to Hugh afterward. There was a small chatter of children whispering to each other in their seats, but Prim was silently picking at her dinner. She had a strange feeling something bad was going to occur.
They hadn't been sat down for long, when Olive began struggling in her seat to get a better view out of the window, she then asked loudly "Is that a boy?"
This caught the attention of many others, the chatter became louder. Primrose inquisitively peered around in her seat to take a look.
What she saw made her feel as though she was going to puke. She wasn't sure why. It was a boy, Olive was right on that account. A boy Primrose knew very well. "Elliot." She muttered.
Primrose stood up hurriedly from her chair, it was Elliot. She was sure of it. Her heart raced as she ran from the room, desperate to reach him. She even ignored the headmistress when she called after her, Hugh was second out of the dining room, having heard what Primrose said, he wanted to be there if she was right. "Mister Apiston!" Miss Peregrine called after him too, before sighing and standing up to follow her wards, telling the remaining children to stay where they were. Obviously no one listened.
Primrose stumbled out of the front door and into the pouring rain. Where her twin brother was staggering towards her, he didn't look good.
The boy's face and arms were covered in cuts and bruises, his shirt torn in places and he was wearing no shoes. His light hair was greasy and stained with a mixture of dirt and blood.
Primrose let out a pained squeak as she took in his appearance, he turned to look at her, a relieved look washing over his face as the pair got closer. Primrose could hear Miss Peregrine calling her name from behind her, getting louder and louder but she blocked it out as she and Elliot finally reached each other.
"They're gone." He muttered, before falling into his sister's arms.
