stay away

First day back

"WAKE UP MILES" I say as I jump on his bed and turn him over.
"please leave you irritating girl" he sarcastically replies.
"now now miles, don't go giving me that attitude. I'm just trying to make sure you are going to be on time for your first day back at school.
He opens his eyes and sits up. He pulls me onto his lap and places kisses all over my face while I giggle and hit him to stop.
"how did you get in my house anyway?"
"secret"
"whatever loser. I'll find out one day. now please evacuate my room while I get dressed."
"you aren't serious?"
"no of course not. Also you look rather nice today."
"tah" I say whilst attempting to wink but failing.
"pro winking skills Effie"
"you know it"
Miles gets dressed into the outfit we had picked out for him to wear. Once he had cleaned his teeth and done his hair we stood in front of his bathroom mirror and sarcastically posed.
"Couple goals much"
"totally" He said whilst turning to look at me and pulling me in for a long hug.
"fresh start okay. please try not getting angry and put on a big smile for me yeah. If anyone gives you shit then you tell me and I will sort them out."
"yeah I've heard you are a right tough girl when you get mad."
"hilarious. but for real though, promise me you will try."
"promise" he says. while pulling out of the hug and kissing me before signalling to the door.
"yeah come on we better go. Don't want to be late do we. And you probably need to get there a bit earlier to pick up your class schedule and find out where your locker is."
"Ah. Joys."

When we arrived at the school we walked reception and got Miles' schedule. Then we headed to his locker and he put his things away. Our lockers weren't too far apart so after we going to his we went to mine.
"Okay so I think we have first and second period together but for the rest of the day we are apart."
"that sucks but at least you can show me where the first couple of classes are."
"yeah if I can remember myself. I am pretty shit at remembering my way around this place. I only started a month ago remember."
"oh shit yeah I forgot. Who else is in our first class that can show us?"
"Erm I think Violet is."
"Oh okay. Maybe we should go and find her then?"
"Yah. She should be by the courts. She usually is. You don't sound so sure though. Is everything okay with you and her?"
"Yeah why wouldn't it be?"
"Don't worry I'm just being stupid."
"No tell me."
"I don't know. You just both sound a bit awkward when I mention the other person. Did you guys date or something?"
"not really. I mean we were seeing each other for a while about 2 years ago but we were never officially dating."
"Oh. Well it would have been nice to know this before I became a close to her."
"I'm sorry. I should have told you. But trust me, I have no feelings for her whatsoever anymore. You are the only girl I care about right now."
"Okay, if you say so."
Well that put a downer on my day. Someone could have told me this before. Now I feel shitty. I guess I should just try and forget about it. I mean, it was 2 years ago and Miles assured me that he had no feelings for her anymore. I just hope she feels the same way.
"Come on then let's go find Violet."
"Look, let's just go ask the receptionist where the class is." I think Miles knew I was feeling slightly upset about the news he just shared, so I agreed that we should go and ask at reception.
"yah okay let's go"
We arrived at the class just as the bell rang and me and Miles headed to the back. I don't like sitting where people are behind me because I feel like the are starring at me and silently judging.
"thank fuck we are at the back. I hate sitting where I can't see everyone. Too much starring."
"exactly"
"Hey Effie, hey Miles" Violet shouted from across the class as she walked over and came to sit next to me.
"How are you guys?"
"We're good. How are you?" I quickly replied.
"Great thanks. Looking forward to school again Miles?" She leant over and asked him.
"erm I guess. I get to see Effie every day so that's pretty much the only upside"
I forced a smile and leant on Miles' shoulder.
"Awe aren't you two cute"
"Alright class settle down" The teacher shouted over all of us.
Class was so boring. I do not enjoy Maths one bit. I probably could if I was any good. Miles however is great at maths and he actually likes it. What a weirdo.
Lunch was okayish. I felt slightly les included than usual because everyone was talking to Miles and ignoring me. It's not like I wanted to be the centre of attention but it would have been nice to have at least one word spoken to me. I don't blame them though. Miles was there friend before me and he just joined their school so I can see why they are excited. Miles looked at me a few times but didn't say anything, I guess he realised I had been quiet all day since he's told me about the Violet thing.
After lunch he grabbed my arm and pulled me behind a building.
"you still mad at me?"
"I was never mad at you Miles"
"well upset then?"
"no"
"skip last period with me"
"Miles I don't think that's a good idea. It's your first day."
"please. You are clearly upset and I want to take you to the carousel and push it around while you sit on your favourite horse. You haven't smiled since we got to school. You said I had to put on a big smile for you so do the same for me."
"I-I"
"Come on. What's the worse that can happen"
"you could get kicked out again"
"details, details. They aren't gonna kick me out for missing one class."
I tried to resist the urge to smile but he could see my trying not to and pulled my cheeks back into a smile until I was forced to.
"you smiled, that means yes."
"does it?"
"yup now come on let's go."
"fine but let me go to my locker first."
"okay but hurry"
"you are a bad influence on me Miles Iero."
"You're bad anyway, I just bring it out of you"
"I can't tell if it's a good thing or not."
"it's a good thing a Effie. A very good thing."
"If you say so."

okay guys sorry for the really shitty chapter. I don't have much inspiration atm. Hopefully the next chapter will be better.
Also I know the story is set in LA but I'm english so I'm using an english lesson plan because I have no idea his school days are set in LA.
