[07.] Heartbroken

Aspyn wanted to cry, she sat there with tears streaming down her face. A knock came at the door that angered her even more. 

"Go away!"

"Sugar, it's me."

Clearly, by the accent, it was Moxxi. Aspyn got up to unlock the door, letting her in. 

"Why did you come?" 

"Why wouldn't I? My girl is crying." She sighed, wrapping her into a hug, "What happened?"

"Rhys, he said something." She groaned, "I went to go find him and he was talking to someone."

"-and?"

"He said Jack. But no one was even there Moxxi."

Moxxi's expressions softened. She didn't know what this meant either, now there is just two very confused women.

Aspyn spoke up again, "Do you think it's some weird Hyperion tech?" 

Moxxi only shrugged, trying to remember any and every word Jack ever said about his technologies. Before either could speak up, another knock came at the door. 

"Aspyn? Please open the door!" 

It was Rhys, granted he did sound upset but Aspyn would not open the door. 

"Go talk to him." 

"If you'd let me explain!"

"NO!" 

Aspyn was getting angrier, and the angrier she became the more her genetics showed.  

"Sugar, don't be angry with him. He's trying to tell you the truth. Isn't that what you want?" 

She nods, deciding to get up and open the door.

"You, in." She turns to Moxxi, "You, out." 

Rhys stepped in after Moxxi left, he was visibly upset. 

"I am sorry, Aspyn. Really!"

"Just tell me who you were talking to."

He stuttered for a second, nervous to mention his name. Finally, he decides to just go for it. 

"Uhm. It was Jack."

"How? Why didn't you say anything?" 

"How would I just bring that up?" He raised a brow, "You don't like talking about him, I'm not gonna put you in a place where you're uncomfortable." 

Butterflies managed to work their way into her stomach, Rhys was the first person she's really fallen for. 

"Why wouldn't you? No one else seems to mind." 

"Because I care about you, Aspyn!" 

She begins to tear up, not knowing what to say. There's a mixture of sadness and joy in her chest, she doesn't know whether she wants to bawl her eyes out or hug Rhys.

"Really?"

"Yes, really." 

After a few moments of silence, Aspyn speaks up again.

"How do you have him with you? Like how are you speaking to him?"

"We found this thing," he points at his head, "I put it in, and he just showed up."

She only nods, walking throughout the room. Truthfully, she didn't know what to think. 

"He knows you're my friend?" She turns on her heel. 

Rhys nods, "Yeah. He knows." 

"He hates me still, doesn't he?"

"No- No. He doesn't hate you." 

She could only roll her eyes, "I'm not dumb, Rhys. He's always hated me." 

Jack was listening, his heart was breaking as she spoke. 

"Tell her." 

Rhys looked over at him, confused as to what he was supposed to tell.

"Tell her that I want to come back." 

He knew it wasn't a good idea, Aspyn only just now found out he was essentially here. She didn't know he truly did care about her, or the fact that he was heartbroken as well. 

"He has talked about you. He cares about you, Aspyn." 

"Sure, Rhys." 

Before she could get more upset, Zer0 opened the door. 

"Aspyn, there's someone here to see you." 

Rhys and her followed Zer0 up the steps, standing right there in the middle of Sanctuary with all of your friends was him.
