[16.] Meetings

After Aspyn and Rhys arrived at Opportunity, they began hunting down a doppelganger for the transition. It didn't take them very long to do this, seeing that these men are clawing at the edges to be Handsome Jack. 

"Are you sure this is what you want?" Rhys asked, holding the ID chip in his hands. 

Aspyn looked down at the doppelganger who was lying across the medical table. 

"Yes.." She smiled weakly, "This is for sure what I want." 

Rhys began to place the ID Chip into Jack's head, Aspyn watched closely. She felt nervous, this would be the first time she would be able to actually hug her father in forever. 

As Rhys finished up the job, he stood there in anticipation. 

"Why isn't anything happening?" Aspyn asked. 

Rhys shrugged, not sure as to how long it would take for Jack to retransition. They sat there patiently for about five minutes until Megan came in on Aspyn's echo. 

"Your 1:00 appointment is here," She paused. "Where are you?" 

"Shoot." Aspyn groaned, "I forgot about that." 

"Don't worry, I'll stay here. You go to work." 

"But you're supposed to sit in."

"It'll be okay, you got this." He smiled, placing a kiss on her forehead. 

She smiled as she turned towards the door. She wasn't quite sure what this appointment was about. It was with an HR director whom she's never met before. 

When she got back to Helios, she met the employees at Megan's desk. 

"Ah, there she is. Ma'am, this is Rachel—Director of Human Resources." 

"Hello," Aspyn extends her hand out towards her.

"Hello, ma'am." 

"You can come with me, we can go ahead and get started," Aspyn said, gesturing for her to follow. 

"As you know, there has been many complaints with our former CEO's." She slid a paper across the desk, "I highly doubt you will be as cruel as Vasquez, but I just wanted to go over a few similar complaints we've got." 

Aspyn began looking over the document, 'demoting employees with good work ethic,' and 'throwing trash to cause a distraction from personal issues.'

"Who has done these?"

"Hugo Vasquez."

She nods, "I can assure you nothing like this will happen while I am in charge."

"I figured, you seem very polite and well off." She chuckled, "and a whole lot less cocky than your father." 

She smiled, "Absolutely." 

Over the course of the next hour, the two talked and made conversation. It wasn't strictly business but they did have some things relating to work to talk about.

"Thank you so much for having me today." 

"It was no problem." Aspyn smiled, opening the door for her. 

"I hope we can definitely catch that lunch together."

"For sure, I'll message you later and we can talk about it." 

As she left, she looked over to Megan. 

"How was that?" 

"Perfect," She smiled. "You're already blowing everyone else out of the water." 

"Everyone as in my father?" She chuckled.

"You said it, not me." She smiled. 

"I really want them to like me."

"Your employees? Aspyn, they already love you."

"Yeah, but that's only because of Jack."

She shrugged, "Yeah, but you're still a great person. That also allows them to like you."

"You think so?" 

"I know so." She smiled, handing her a file. 

She took the file and made her way back towards her desk. She was trying to debate if she should go back to Opportunity. Aspyn sat down at her desk, looking over the file. Trying to concentrate on what it said. As she was deep in thought, her doors busted open. 

"Slow down, she may be in a meeting-" 

When she looked up, their eyes locked. He stood across from her, stopping in his tracks. 

"Aspyn?"
