44 Years Old
I'm a grandma. God damnit that makes me sound so freaking old. I am not old! Okay maybe I am but I run around with a 4-year-old son of my own so I don't feel old. It is seriously insane even thinking about all of this. Just everything how far we have come in what 20 years? I mean Colson and I have really almost been together that long.
We've raised 6 kids to almost adulthood and were still working on that 7th he's still young, and now we're grandparents holy freaking shit. Tatum and Dalton are also grand parents so I mean I don't feel as bad I guess, and So are Kaden and Shannon but their kids are all older, so they're like grandparents to 10 grandkids. I can't even imagine right now. Obviously, we have Trevor, but if any of the other kid start popping them out anytime soon, I might go crazy.
That is except Trent, he's 22 and getting married he can have how ever many kids he wants, and from what he's told us he wants quite a few. I guess he loved growing up with a ridiculously big family.
Colson's parents, and mine are all in their late 70s and early 80s and have 11 freaking grandkids!
"Hey Momma?" My thoughts interrupted by our only daughter Kayle.
"Yes baby girl?"
"I have a weird question."
"Would I expect anything less?" We both snickered and she helped me grab drinks to bring out to the boys, they were all getting ready to get into the pool.
"How do you know if someone is the one?" I stopped what I was doing almost dropping the tray that held the pitcher of lemonade.
"What do you mean?"
"Like, say I kissed a boy for the first time and I just. Hypothetically say that my heart raced every time I thought about him or the kiss...and just stuff like that?"
"I think that you're too young for talk like that darlin'" Colson walked in the kitchen in all his gorgeous shirtless glory, that man makes my heart race that's for sure. "What boy do I need to shoot?"
"Daddy stop it. This wasn't a question for you it was for Momma."
"Mommy I want to swim!" Seth ran in with his swim trunks on matching Colson.
"We're going out dude." Colson picked up Seth before giving me a kiss. "Seriously, no boy talk woman. She's too young for that shit." He smiled at Kayle and quickly ran out the back door.
"Now that he's gone." Kayle laughed rolling her eyes. "How do you know."
"Well sweetie, I do think you're still too young to realize it honestly. But you just...you know."
"How did you know Daddy was the one?" I smiled thinking back to the first time we ever met.
"Well Daddy was at Aunt Tatum's and Uncle Dalton's for their engagement party. I got there and Aunt Tatum saw me catch a glimpse of him out the back door and all but dragged my butt to go meet him. Our eyes met and I just knew, then when our hands touched it was like a beautiful storm on a sunny day. You know one that comes in quick but doesn't make the day a wash?" She nodded with a smile. "Then he threw me in the pool and didn't complain about me holding on to him because I'm short and couldn't touch." I laughed.
"You guys still do that!" We both laughed, it was true, every time we were in the pool together, he intentionally pulled me to the part where I couldn't touch all but forcing me to hold on and guess what I did, and loved every second of it.
"Because your Daddy is a goof ball and I love that about him."
"You love everything about him." She smiled again.
