"Arthur." You greeted the tall cowboy towering over you as you looked up at his bright eyes and subtle smiling face.
"You okay? You, seem a little down." Arthur asked you. You could hear the kindness in his voice, how he actually cared about your well being and wasn't just curious. Still, you chose to keep your current situation with Micah to yourself.
"I'm fine." You told him with a smile of your own.He reached down his hand to pull you to your feet which you gladly took and allowed him to swiftly pull you to standing.
You patted yourself down, getting all the dirt off of your ass."So, I have a favour to ask." Arthur proposed as he began walking along the riverside, you walking beside him, listening intently.
"Sure, what can I do for you?" You asked politely. Curious about what Arthur was about to ask. He never really asked for help. He was normally the person everyone came to for help.
"Myself, Dutch and Bill were all 'Deputized' yesterday. Don't ask." Arthur began, making you grin.
"Dutch wants me to check around the Greys estate. See what information I can get on the two families and the so called gold their hiding." Arthur briefly explained."But I have some other business that I have to attend to so, I'd like you to go in my place if you can handle it." Arthur asked you.
"Of course I can! Be good to get a good sniff around that family I guess, considering they're in charge of the entire town pretty much. Only thing is, how they gunna let me by? Unless you want me to sneak in?" You questioned him as you both stopped by the waterside and turned to one another.
Arthur smiled as he took his own recently earned law badge off of his mustard yellow top and handed it over to you.
"They'll never know." He said to you as he smiled. Deviance glistening in his eyes. You took the small badge from him and admired how it glistened in the afternoon sun. You chuckled a little at his proposition.
"Arthur, they'd never have a woman as a deputy." You said to him defeatedly, though he only chuckled and shook his head.
"The amount of liquor that sheriff had had? He would have deputized a dog. Now go on, get! You'll think of something if they question ya." Arthur lightly encouraged you as he waved you away with a smile. You smiled back and headed for your horse, walking quite slowly as you were pinning the badge to your shirt. Your mouth agape whilst you were looking down attempting to fit it.
As you patted January before mounting, you spotted Micah standing amongst the horses. He lifted his gaze and saw you staring at him. Though that didn't break the eye contact.
Instead, you smiled warmly at him before mounting January and heading out of camp.Micah didn't bother to smile back due to his own stubborn attitude. Yet, something tugged at his heart as he saw you smile at him. Almost like a flame of hope had re lit. He felt deep down that he was relieved and dare he admit, happy? Although with you now riding down the path there wasn't much point in showing it. He'd talk to you when you got back.

As you rode through the town of Rhodes and through to the gates of the Greys estate. A wave of slight realisation and fear washed over you. The fields were brimming with glorious plant life and guards were everywhere you looked. If you messed up here, you were dead.
As you approached, you slowed January down as the guardsmen recognised the unfamiliar face.
"What you want woman?" One of the guards spat. Quite nastily actually. Normally you would have retaliated but right now you were a deputy in disguise so you decided it best to hold your tongue."This here the Greys plantation? Sheriffs orders. He wanted me to have a word with some people on the property. Me and my older brothers have been recently deputized you see?" You complied, adding a little more to the lie, see if it made it any more believable.
