i took in short but deep breaths as the bright lights of the stadium altered my sense of vision slightly. the unnerving tunnel i walked through every time seemed to last longer today.

i knew this gym battle was going to be tough, double battles are something i'm very inexperienced in and what makes it even worse is that Raihan is the strongest gym leader too, i even once heard he had a slight rivalry with champion Leon!

the crowd roared as i strolled through the tunnel, taking in the vibrant atmosphere all at once.in the centre of the battlefield stood a tall man with dark skin and a unique fashion sense, but i liked it.

i felt an adrenaline rush as the whole scene was very overwhelming. i couldn't believe i had already passed all the previous gyms before this one, it was an extremely rare thing to do. i was hoping all my hard work would show in this match against Raihan today.

"finally a challenger made it! i've been waiting for someone to battle!" a husky voice enthusiastically spoke out.

it was true. Raihan didn't get as much action as most of the gym leaders since his gym battle is last, many people drop out of the challenge altogether before even nearing his gym.

faking a giggle, i tried to hide away my anxiousness of the battle. Raihan's whole aura told me he was a creative battler, who was born to be a success.

"got to admit, Y/N... i've had a close eye on you. not just because of how you look..." he shrugged his shoulders with a slight smirk on his face

i completely dismissed everything he said all in the heat of the moment

"uh huh ..." my mind was basically shut off and my
body shook while i was daydreaming about which two pokemon to start with

"...i knew Leon was correct in endorsing you. i mean, i've watched your every move!... even back when you fought milo, you were a complete newbie but you still managed to sweep the floor... i want to find out more..."

"okay." i blurted out in a rush, wanting to get this battle over and done with.

Raihan furrowed his brows slightly at my bluntness. "o...okay...?" he turned away slightly agitated and i felt a wave of relief pass over me

"let's do this..." i whispered to myself, staring at my Dynamax band, hopeful.

my eyes widened in a mix of joy and shock as Raihan's Duraludon emitted a bright spark
of light, crashing into the ground devastatingly

i did it.

"oh my..." i whispered

Raihan shook his head, smiling to himself.  normally when Raihan lost he seemed to be angered or disappointed... or taking selfies...? this time he seemed to be joyful as the crowd chanted my name going absolutely wild

as we shook hands i felt myself paying more attention the the gym leader than before. he seemed really intriguing

"wow... what a battle. here, you've earned you're very own dragon badge, Y/N." Raihan sounded very lighthearted

"thank you, Raihan." i chipperly squealed as i was ecstatic to have finally finished my gym challenge

Raihan chuckled to himself. "great to see you have more life in you now!"

"what do you mean?" i tilted my head as we broke away the handshake

Raihan chuckled once more. "try to loosen up more before matches. you've got all the talent in the world."
