heyy! so this is set AFTER the alolan league semi final match between kiawe and gladion.
soo... SPOILER ALERT! if you haven't watched the anime and are planning on c:

•••
as kiawe shook the blonde headed boys hand i could see the fake smile he put on.

it was always kiawe's dream to be the alolan league champion ever since professor kukui announced the introduction of the league during school. kiawe was like a puppy on red bull when the news arrived. he had his eyes on the prize from the beginning and came into school every day since then with heavy bags under his eyes. kiawe has worked his butt off for this league and i was proud of how far he's come as a trainer, however, kiawe wasnt. kiawe was extremely self critical of himself and often tore himself down after losing a battle during training at the pokemon school, he'd point out the most minuscule mistakes and obsess over it for hours, days and sometimes even weeks.

i noticed kiawe whisper something to gladion and they shot eachother a grin, which made me sigh in relief. however, when they parted away it all changed. i felt a harsh lump in my throat form as kiawe's face suddenly dropped and he was clenching one of his muscular arms into a fist.

"such a great match!" i heard lana sing through the roaring of cheering and clapping

i agreed. it was a tough and close match with lots of action, both of the boys gave it everything they've got and showcased their expertise. they came so far and really set the bar up high for aspiring trainers.

"hey lana..." i turned to lana who was next to me

lana furrowed her eyebrows and turned to me, tilting her head. "yeah?" she said, still clapping

out of the corner of my eye i saw the door shut behind kiawe and i knew i had to be there for him.

"i'm gonna go see kiawe..." i shrugged

lana nodded "ah! okay, well... you two lovebirds better be back for ash's match against guzma!" she teased, sticking out her tounge childishly

i scoffed. "l-lovebirds? no way!" i rolled my eyes and marched out of the stands, making my way into the freshly new, pokemon league building

"now where could he be..." i muttered to myself. after pondering around for a moment, looking like an idiot, i decided to head towards the entrance to the stadium.

i sped up my walk desperately as i wanted to comfort kiawe instantly and explain to him how proud and inspired his battle made me feel. the way him and turtenador were in total sync seriously astonished me, i never even knew such a bond during battle was possible!

"kiawe..." i jumped down the stairs, whispering to myself hopefully.

i made it into a narrow-ish hallway, passing a few spectators and TVs which swarmed the league building, reeling highlights all day

"WOW! WHAT A SEMI-FINAL MATCH! TWO TALENTED TRAINERS!" i heard several TVs boom at once as i passed them all in a rush

"come on... kiawe..." i whispered again, anxiously searching the building that was completely foreign to me

finally. i found him. i turned a corner to a remote spot which was well hidden. it was a small lounge area with a couch, on the couch was a tall figure hanging his head in shame.

frowning at this sight, i slowly approached kiawe, standing beside him. kiawe didn't even bother to acknowledge me, his head was fixed on the bland floor beneath him, his thoughts most likely consuming his awareness.

carefully, but swiftly, i sat down on the couch next to the mooching boy. i hesitated for a moment gathering things to say, it was saddening to see such a talented and bright boy in this state and i didn't know what to say or how to act as i knew no matter what, he was going to stay disheartened. his dream has been crushed and he no longer had a brave face
