Chapter 30

"Agent Eve's desk is empty again." Valmont hissed.

"Kung hindi nakialam ang estupidong Morgan na yan, wala sana tayong ganitong problema." Pagalit na usal ni Agent Hilton.

The president smiled while listening to the conversations inside the headquarters. This is the president's favorite past time, listening to conversations while no one else knew the president's real identity. The good thing about being a Safronov was no one considered you as a threat inside your own agency, as far as everybody knew, you were innocent, you were harmless.

Hah. As if.

"I just thought it's unfair you know? Just because she's a queen doesn't mean we got to control her life." Agent Meg said sadly as she leaned her head on Agent Lian's shoulder. Lian wrapped her arm on Meg's waist.

"I hope she's okay." Lian answered before she tensed because another head leaned on her other shoulder.

"Hoy Jackson, gaya-gaya ka!" Saway ni Meg sabay batok sa ulo nito na nakasandal na rin sa balikat ni Lian.

Binatukan pabalik ng binata si Meg pero imbes na bumalik sa dating posisyon ay sinandal lang niya ang kanyang balikat sa back rest ni Lian. Umayos ng upo si Lian, walang ibang ginagawa kundi tumingin sa harap.

"Are you okay?" Tanong ni Jackson kay Lian habang hinuhuli ang tingin nito.

"Yes." Lian hissed as she kept avoiding Jackson's gaze.

"Oi oi oi ano yan? OP na naman ako rito hah!" Pagrereklamo ni Meg habang sabay niyang hinila ang buhok ng dalawa. Nagtawanan silang tatlo.

Biglang natigil ang mga pag-uusap nang bumukas ang pinto.

Finally, the president thought as the double doors opened soundly and the red queen of Safronov came in. Her blood red hair was tied in a bun; her corporate suit was so neat; and her facial expression gave away nothing. She walked towards her throne with her chin up, and a confidence in her fiery blue eyes.

Begrudgingly, the president  bowed down to the queen. One day, you will bow down to me. One day, you will no longer be the mighty Laura Callisha everyone knew.

Even with this position, the president saw how the queen's eyes watched Eve's empty desk for a millisecond before she turned her eyes ahead once more. The president hid a smirk as all the agents took their seats.

"I promised you a meeting, so now here it is. Any question?"

The president hated to admit this but the queen's straight forwardness was admirable. She didn't waste time by all those meaningless greetings; she attacked the issue once and for all. It reminded the president of their tattoo. Bull's eye, indeed.

The agents were unusually quiet, as if speaking was a crime punishable by tongue cutting.

Agent Hilton sat restlessly in his seat as he exchanged weary glances with Valmont. Valmont exhaled soundly and raised his hand.

"When did you marry him? And I think that we deserve to know, Queen Callisha. Marrying someone automatically means making him our king. I think we have the right to know that at least." He said coldly, not looking at the queen. Interesting, so the queen's body guard had a thing for her? The president stored that information in mind. Could be useful in the future.

"No Valmont, me marrying McAkiro Morgan is a personal thing, it has nothing to do with the kingdom." The queen answered as coldly, exuding authority in every word.
