Chapter 40

"This is what I'm talking about. You lose the crown; you lose the throne; then you become just another ordinary helpless girl."

The president watched Callisha as she was hanged upside down on the wooden frame, her feet were tied inches apart. The heretic's fork was around her neck, stabbing her chest and jaw. Beside her, one of the president's soldiers was heating the breast ripper.

Meg kicked the queen's head and the fork stabbed her skin. The queen groaned in agony. Meg laughed.

"Saronov's legacy is just a tale. You take away the elegance; you take away the power and it just becomes another ordinary prey in the food chain."

The president took the saw from one of her soldiers and sliced a line on the queen's stomach. The queen screamed as her cloth and skin were ripped. Meg laughed in the pleasure of that sound.

Helpless Callisha. Screaming Callisha. Begging Callisha. From the very beginning, this was how it was supposed to be. This was how it was destined to be, all along.

She tightened her hold on the saw. "Now just scream if it hurts, your majesty." She mocked as she put the saw between the queen's legs...

"This is weird." McAkiro said at Damien whose back was touching his, as a dozen of Lurid and Vermilion surrounded them. "I expected our enemy to outnumber us. Their quantity is... smaller than I anticipated."

Two soldiers attacked him simultaneously, knives raised toward his chest. He blocked the arm of the first one and he twisted the soldier's wrist so that the knife that he was holding stabbed the second one's chest. McAkiro twisted the first one's neck and with a loud crack, he died.

"Bend." He instructed Damien and the pier agent bent his body forward, offering his back to McAkiro. Stealing the two knives from the soldiers, McAkiro stepped on Agent Damien's back and used it as a leverage to jump on the air, a knife on each hand, he strategically pointed the knives on two soldiers as he landed on the ground with a thud.

At his two opposite sides, two dead bodies with knives stabbed on their heads landed along with him.

"Their army is not small." Agent Damien commented as he spun two bodies using his bare hands, he let go of the bodies and they ricocheted in the air. "Half of their army is inside the palace."

Where Callisha will be fighting them alone. Bile rose on McAkiro's throat as his chest tightened.

He knew Callisha had a plan. He knew placing Callisha alone in the palace was a strategy that the queen herself thought of. In theory, he knew his wife got this. But in reality, Callisha was no superhuman. She could make mistakes. She could make wrong decisions. So with a heavy sigh and a glance at Damien who was busy fending off a number of agents, he secretly entered the palace to check on his wife.

The president was about to move the saw when the soldier beside her stumbled. The other two on her left suddenly fell unconscious on the floor.

She moved the saw away from the upside down queen and laughed hysterically. McAkiro Morgan was soooo predictable. He was like those cliché heroes on novels who rescued women milliseconds before the women's tragedies. The president knew the Morgan prince would act like a knight and shining armor so she already prepared for this. Too bad for McAkiro—he was the one who wouldn't be prepared when the president dropped her bomb.
