"Pearls don't lie on the seashore. If you want one, you must dive for it."

Chapter 35
"Only few..." Damien paused because the smoke from the fire made him cough. "Only few were wounded. No Morgan was killed. Our people hid in the shadows while the Lurid and Vermilion were bombarding the palace. When they were done, our people followed where they were going. We are currently following their trail now. In no time, we will know where their head quarter is."
"Good job, Agent Damien. I will—"
"rest." Agent Damien supplied, looking at me with respect and submission as if he did not order me just now. I laughed bitterly.
"I could still work. My palace needs—"
"you to rest, your majesty." Agent Damien said kindly with a poker face. I did not know how he managed that. "Please, let me manage this one. It's just simple, we will only get the location of their head quarters and that's it. I'll update you tomorrow, Queen Callisha."
If there is someone I could trust with the palace, it was Damien Ozera. He was a man of responsibility and honor. I knew I could sleep tonight with the knowledge that my palace was in good hands: the strong and mighty hands of this Ozera.
"Alright." I sighed. My parents raised me strong, not stupid. One way to take good care of your body is to listen to it. And at this moment, it was asking me to rest. And they were in agreement with my tired brain.
I walked inside the palace towards my room. Energy sipped out of my body as I took every step. It was as if my brain knew that the day was ending and the adrenaline rush was now oozing out of me.
Too many happened that I was not even given a chance to mourn for Meg properly. My lips trembled at the thought. I couldn't even cry. I was that drained.
I stopped on my track when I saw McAkiro Morgan leaning on the wall beside my door. He was holding a tray on his one hand. His blond hair looked wet. He was wearing a black crumpled shirt and black slacks. My brows furrowed as I looked at the slacks; that was unusual. In the back of my mind, I was wondering if he wore that in case Eve goes back and he wanted to look formal for her.
He straightened up when he saw me. He smiled brightly at me but I couldn't even lift the corners of my lips. His smile didn't fade though. He was used to me not smiling back. In the past, I was always moody at him when I got stressed in my work, but he always plastered that bright smile at me as if my bad mood gave him sunshine.
Then he would hug me and cuddle me until my bad mood melts away.
I opened the door to my room, ignoring him.
"Uhm... I will go in, okay?" He asked enthusiastically while going in. I just nodded, not strong enough to even order my mouth to form a single word.
He put his tray on my table. I just realized that it was my favorite food. Now I was sure he heard what happened to Meg, Lian and Jackson. It was so like him to be extra sweet when something bad happened in my agency.
Too bad, I was not in the mood to eat.
