Stormy watersAfter having spent most of their day indoors, the couple makes their way down to the beaches the sun starts to set in the distance, settling near some rocks so they can have their space.
Everything is calm and quiet, the moist breeze pleasant as it freely flows around them.
As they sit, her head comes to rest on his shoulders as they watch the peaceful waves roll along with the wind.
Even though they are silent, Namjoon can tell that there is something in the girl's mind. EunAe hadn't said a word ever since they walked out of the aquarium making him wonder if everything is okay.
"What's on your mind?" He asks noticing her distant gaze.
For a while, the girl doesn't speak, until finally, she lets out a heavy sigh as she begins.
"It's a bit silly." She says, her gaze never moving from its fixed spot. "But I was thinking, Mer people are so cool. You can live both in and out of the water," she starts, her voice quivering as she continues, "but I can't do that." She adds taking in a deep breath, finally mustering up the courage to look up to the boy, her eyes slightly moist with tears. "I want to be able to see your world Namjoon. I don't want to hold you back."
As she speaks, Namjoon is taken aback by her answer, the thoughts all too familiar to him. He would love nothing more than to show her what his world is really like, but realistically speaking, there are some limits to what they can do. Still, he didn't expect for the girl to be affected by it in this way, the sadness in her voice making his heart heavy.
"Hey," Namjoon says gently cupping her cheek with his hand, "we'll find a way to make it work. It'll take us some time but I know we can do it."
EunAe wants to agree with him but she's not so sure, can they really make it work?
She just wishes there's something more she can do for her friend, a way to connect in a deeper way that is not limited to land only.
Sensing her hesitation, Namjoon speaks up again.
"I believe in us." He says gently kissing her forehead, pulling her into a hug as he says the next words. "Please believe in us."
"As long as we believe, there's no telling how far we can go. Our possibilities are endless. And who knows, maybe sometime in the future, when we have it all figured out, maybe we can help others as well." He adds, smiling as the girl slowly nods.
"You're right." She says, refusing to give up hope. "I believe in us too."
"Thank you Namjoon." She says pulling him a tight hug, the boy gently patting her back.
"Always love."
With calm hearts, the couple soon falls into a comfortable silence again, enjoying the scenery for a little longer until they finally decide to call it a day.
"Shall we go home?" Namjoon asks, his voice sending tickles on the girl's ear.
The girl nods in response, smiling as he offers her a hand, the two glancing at the calm sea one last time before they say goodbye for the day.
"What should we have for dinner today?" EunAe asks as she turns away, taking a few steps before she bends down to pick up their stuff. "Are you in the mood for anything?"
