Together, they walk in silence, hands tightly held together as they reach the beach, his hand giving hers a slight squeeze.

No words are needed. Their heavy hearts can be heart through the silence, weighing them down as they reach their spot. The special place where they first met and where they will now part ways.

Letting out a small sigh, Namjoon turns to face her, pressing their foreheads together as he reaches to grab both her hands.

"I will be back love," he says placing a gentle kiss on her forehead, "I promise."

"I'll be here waiting," she says, managing a small smile for him, "no matter how long it takes."

"Before I go, there's something I want to give you," he says, the girl raising a surprised brow in response. "Wait here, oh and, close your eyes."

With a small nod, the girl does as instructed, genuinely smiling this time.

Even though they are parting ways, he is still full of surprises.

His footsteps grow louder until he stops in front of her, her heart skipping a beat when she hears his voice.

"You can open them now," he says, shyly smiling as he hands her a small bouquet of flowers. "It's not much but–"

"They're perfect," she interrupts before he can finish the thought, the boy relaxing as she kisses his cheek. "Thank you, I will treasure them."

"Thank you for sharing your warmth with me," he says, "I want you to know that I was the happiest in the moments we got to spend together. Granted, I don't know what the future may hold, but I want you to know this, my love for you is forever."

EunAe is at a loss for words at his words, only managing to nod before she wraps her arms around him, the boy returning the gesture.

Neither wants to let go, but time is running out. She knows she has to let him go, but deep down she also knows that he will always find his way back.

"I love you," she says looking at him, "more than I can put into words. Don't worry about me."

"I don't think I can do this," he confesses, lowering his gaze to the ground.

"You can," she says cupping his cheek, though she feels the same way as him.

"You're right," he adds managing a small smile, his eyes showing the storm brewing inside him. "There's one more thing I want you to have."

"Here," he says placing an object on her other hand, his hand lingering on hers as he continues, "use this when you miss me."

"No matter where I am, I will know."

Not able to hold back anymore, she wraps her arms around his neck, connecting her lips to his, the kiss the sweetest it can be, mixed with longing her heart has no words to express.

"Go help them," she says, placing a hand on his chest before resting her head against it, listening to the sound of his heartbeat, absorbing his warmth as much as possible.

No words are necessary for each knows how they feel.

With one last kiss, the lovers part ways.

"Until we meet again," he says, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead before walking to the edge, his hand slowly caressing hers before he forces himself to pull away.

"Take care Joonie."

With a nod, he jumps into the sea, leaving his jacket behind.

Crouching down, the girl picks it up and watches as he goes farther away. Part of her wishes to see him one last time, her heart already missing him, but she knows that if he turns back even for one moment, she might jump in after him, and she can't do that to him.

She needs to let him go.

His silhouette disappears along with the sinking sun on the horizon, both taking light and warmth with them.

Now that his figure is out of sight, EunAe lets out a long and heavy sigh, her hand gently caressing the petals, her gaze lingering on the horizon for a while.

Forcing herself to look away, she refocuses her attention on the bouquet of blue flowers in her hand, smiling to herself as she notices what they are.

Forget-me-nots.

A symbol of true love and respect. A promise that no matter what, you will always remember the person and keep them in your thoughts. That no matter what comes your way, no matter the challenges or the passing of time, you will always remember them.

He really does think or everything doesn't he? She thinks to herself with a small smile.

She doesn't know if he knows this, but there is a legend behind the name of forget-me-nots.

The legend tells that once two lovers walked along the river, and upon stumbling across these beautiful flowers, the man attempted to pick some up for his lover but ended up falling into the river. As he was swept away, he told his lover not to forget him, thus giving the flowers the name they have today.

Of course there are many stories behind the name and meaning of these flowers, but this one is the one that comes to her mind.

Funny they are parting under similar circumstances, her lover being drawn back to the sea.

Her thoughts are interrupted when she hears a distant sound that catches her attention, and she lets the tears she was holding back fall as she hears the sound of his conch in the distance, hurrying to respond back with her own.

"Stay safe Namjoon," she says.

When the sun sets and the sky starts to get dark, the girl stands up and heads back home, her heart already missing the boy.

But she will stay strong.

She will wait as long as it takes to see him again.

Hi loves! I hope you are all doing well
