"Are you ready to go?" Namjoon asks, the girl smiling at him as she nods, his hand reaching for hers as Hoseok approaches the counter.
"Are you guys heading out already?" Hoseok asks, sweetly smiling at the pair as they exchange a brief glance before nodding. "Have fun."
"Thank you." EunAe says. "We'll see you later."
As the girl turns away, Hoseok gives his friend a discreet thumbs up, the latter giving him a nervous smile before he takes a deep breath and rushes to open the door for the girl.
"So," EunAe starts, "where are we going today?" Asking as they round the corner of the block heading towards the beach.
"To a special place." Namjoon says trying his best not to smile. "But it's a surprise."
"I see." EunAe says with a soft hum, rolling on her heels as she gazes up to the sky. "It's such a nice day."
"It is." Namjoon agrees with a nod, stopping for a brief moment to let the girl walk a few steps ahead of him. Noticing this, EunAe stops and looks back at him, blushing when he closes the distance standing right behind her.
"Okay." He says placing his hands on her shoulders. "From here on, you have to trust me until we get there okay?"
"Okay." She replies without hesitation, giggling when he covers her eyes, her hands coming up to hold on to his wrists as they resume their walk.
As they walk, EunAe can hear the sound of the waves getting closer, the wind picking up the slightest as they approach their destination.
Under them, wood gently creaks under their weight as they come to a stop. As Namjoon slowly lowers his hands, the girl's eyes crease into crescents at the familiar scenery, immediately recognizing the place. It's a special place for the both of them indeed.
It's the place where they met for the first time many moons ago. But why did he bring her here?
Before she can say anything, Namjoon softly clears his throat, scratching his temple before he begins to speak.
"EunAe," he starts, the girl's brown orbs glued to his as he speaks, "I don't really know where to start but here I go." He says taking a deep breath, his hands taking hers as he continues.
"The day we met, changed my life forever. And in the best way I could've imagined."
"When we parted ways, part of me was afraid that we would never meet again. But that feeling went away when I saw you again."
"Everyday I asked for the universe to give us more time, and now you're here by my side. To be honest, some days it still feels too good to be true. But I'm happy to be able to spend more time with you." As he continues, he gains more and more confidence with every words he speaks.
"No matter what happens, I will always come back to your side. I will swim across the ocean if that's what it takes to find you again." He says bringing her hand to his lips, gently placing a kiss before lowering their hands as he searches for something in his pockets.
"The sea is dark and cold but when I'm with you everything is bright and warm. This ring is my promise to you. That no matter what, I will always remember and be grateful for the time we were given." He finishes, pulling out a small velvet box with a ring.
The simple pearl ring signifying his promise of coming back to her, to always stay by her side.
EunAe's eyes water at his words, her heart swelling with warmth as he slides the ring on her finger, the tears spilling out from her eyes.
"Namjoon, I-" she starts but stops midway as she looks into his eyes.
"I love you." He says cupping her face with his hands, his thumbs gently wiping her tears away. Not tears of sadness, but of genuine happiness.
Namjoon smiles as tears gather in his eyes as well, pulling her close into a brief gentle kiss before he pulls away and admires her every detail.
The freckles in her cheeks like the sand on the beach, each little grain perfectly adorning her cheeks. Her chestnut eyes sparkling as she looks up at him.
Soft cheers in the distance catch the couple's attention, the two of them smiling widely as Hoseok and Jimin capture the moment, holding a banner up that reads 'congratulations' in big letters, making the two of them laugh at the sight.
"Wow, our Namjoon-ie is all grown up." Hoseok says wiping fake tears from his eyes, giving his friend a pat on the back before he moves on to congratulate the girl.
"Thank you guys." Namjoon says smiling at the two boys. "For everything."
"Glad we could help." Jimin says returning the smile, exchanging a glance with Hoseok who clears his throat in response.
"Well, we better get back to the cafe. We took a small break knowing it's a special day. We'll leave you to it." He says waving his hand.
"Enjoy the rest of your day." Jimin says with a small bow before hurrying after the oldest boy, the couple waving at them until they are out of sight.
"Are you ready for the next surprise?" Namjoon asks holding her hand.
"There's more?" She asks, her mouth slightly agape as he nods.
"Yes. There's still one more surprise." He says looking at the sand in the distance. "Right over there."
Following his gaze, the girl lets out a small gasp as she sees a blanket neatly placed on the sand, a basket full of baked goods and their favorite drinks awaiting them.
"When did you prepare all of this?" EunAe asks with a smile, eyes sparkling as she notices the little details he kept in mind.
"I had help from our friends." Namjoon says with a shy smile, his cheeks pink as he looks away.
"Well, everything looks lovely." EunAe compliments taking the boy's hand, dragging him along as she rushes towards their next surprise, the boy chuckling as he runs along.
As the sun sets, the couple rests side by side, her head resting on his shoulders while his rests on top of her head, giving the day a perfect ending, the two quietly enjoying the scenery and each other's presence.
