The boy stares up at the dark sky above him, his eyes watching each twinkling star meshing together as he tilts his head back and gasps for air. He didn't know what to expect when he decided to try this, but it was definitely something new to him, and he wasn't sure how to feel about it just yet.
His chest dramatically rises and falls as he feels the oxygen enter his lungs, completely different from being underwater, and as he gasps once more, his hands grab a fistful of sand at his sides in an attempt to relieve some of the pressure in his chest.
Not too far from him, he can hear the rhythmical sound of the waves, the water gently gracing the sand for a brief moment before it is slowly pulled back to sea, leaving a tickling sensation by his feet. Almost as if the sea itself is trying to soothe the pain, it's alluring sound rather calming to him.
After a few seconds of laying still and slowly breathing in, the burning sensation subsides and he is able to sit up, his hand reaching for the clean set of clothes next to him, and a smile slowly forms on his lips as he zips up the hoodie, safely placing his precious treasure inside it.
As he zips his jacket up, he gives one last longing look to the sea over his shoulder before he turns away with a smile, waving his hand as he starts making his way to a new adventure.
He didn't know what awaited him, but he was sure that it would be worth it. He could feel it in every cell in his body.
Just wait a little longer... He thinks to himself looking up at the pale moon shyly shining above him.
