It was only two days before Naomi's birthday. She had invited the guys to malibu just last night. Surprisingly they were all up for it despite the short notice.
My phone beeped with a message from Noah. We have been texting back and forth since the day we hung out and attempted to make slushies.
Noah: Waves or palm trees?
Me: I guess I'll go with palm trees. Why?
Texting Noah was quite entertaining. Our conversations were always about the most random things. Over the past few days, I've learned a lot about him. He loved the beach but he constantly complained about getting sand in his car, he liked cheese but hated cheesecake, and even though he refuses to admit it, he's a fan of the harry potter series.
We had a few things in common too. We both appreciated pineapple on pizza, our favorite color is blue and we're both Scorpio's though my birthday is November 29 and his is December 12.
Noah: I'm packing. I'm out of sunscreen and a few other stuff so I need to run to the store.
Me: Same, I've been putting it off because I'm extremely lazy but I'm running out of time.
"Who you texting?" Lydia asked, popping up behind me from my seat in the living room and scaring me half to death. "Just as I assumed. Say hi to Noah for me."
"Will do. Where's Naomi?" I woke up around 11:30 which was an hour ago and I haven't seen her once.
"Overpacking and over planning. You know the drill. She refuses to leave her room until she's all done. Which reminds me, we're out of a few stuff and I'm guessing it's about another 20 minutes before she realizes and flips out." I almost forgot about how Naomi got when it came on to trips.
Me: Uh. Do you mind picking me up? We can go get those stuff together?
Noah: Angel, there's no need for excuses. If you miss me you can just say so.
Me: Yeah. You caught me. I took one look at the trash and I haven't been able to stop thinking about you since.
Noah: Very funny. I'll be there in 15 minutes.
"I'm going to the store to pick up a few items. Maybe I should ask her what she needs." I said, getting up and making my way to Naomi's room.
Her door was half opened so I just walked in. Her room was a mess, clothes were thrown around and multiple bags of different items sorted and labeled were lined out on her bed. She was in the middle of sorting makeup when I interrupted.
"Hey N. I'm going to the store. Do you need anything?"
"Uh let's see." She responded. Picking up a paper and a pen then proceeding to make markings on the papers. "Here. I ticked what I need." She handed me a typed list of items on which she marked a few items she needed.
"Alright. No problem." I spun around and made my exit, quickly scanning through the items. Why she thought she needed candles and cold medicine is beyond me.
I quickly got changed into a pair of jean shorts and a t-shirt and brushed my hair.
There was a knock on my room door shortly after which Lydia's head peeked out.
"Liv, is there a reason a certain quarterback's car is sitting outside?"
Sure enough, my phone started ringing just after she had finished asking her question.
"Hey. I'm on my way out. Though I might need a minute because Lydia insists on interrogating me."
He chuckled, "Okay."
I tucked my phone into my purse and turned to face Lydia.
"We're going to the store," I informed her.
"Well this is an interesting development," she said, smiling. I can almost see the wheels turning in her head.
"How is going to the store an interesting development?" I asked her, making my way toward the front door with her close behind.
"You have a fully functioning car. Yet you're going to the store in Noah McCoy's car. You have to admit. That's very interesting." Lydia leaned against the wall to her left and cocked her head to the side.
"Don't read too much into it Lyd. He was already going to the store. I just asked to tag along."
Her eyebrows shot up like 3 inches high, "So this was your idea. It just got even more interesting." Now she was grinning like a Cheshire cat.
"Bye Lydia," I said. Pulling the door open and stepping out.
"Have her back by 6 for dinner!" She yelled to Noah when I opened the passenger door to his Audi.
I almost forgot that he owned this beautiful car.
"Yes ma'am!" He answered.
Noah's car was just as nice on the inside as it was on the outside. It was clean too, and it had that new car smell.
I buckled my seatbelt and turned to look at the brown-haired, blue-green eyed boy.
"Hey," I spoke first. A smile sneaking its way onto my lips.
"Hey." His eyes met mine as he reciprocated the smile I had unintentionally offered.
After what felt like 5 minutes of just staring and smiling the whole situation started to feel a little awkward. "Ready to go?" I asked, trying to diminish the awkward silence.
"Yeah. You heard the woman, got to have you back by six."
"The store is just like 10 minutes away, pretty sure you can have me back by four." I responded, using air quotes with the words 'have me back'.
"I'm not taking any chances, Angel. Your friend is kinda scary," he said, starting up the car and pulling off the curb.
"My friend is scary? What about yours. When I first saw Theo I was convinced he was going to bite Lydia's head off for her excessive amount of talking and need to make small talk."
He chuckled, "Yeah, he seems a little tough at first, but trust me, once you get to know him and he starts to warm up to you, he's a pretty good guy."
"Well, unfortunately, I can't say the same about Lydia. She's like that all year round. Probably worse during the winter."
"Guess I'm going home for Christmas then," he said jokingly which in return earned a laugh from me.
The rest of the car ride was spent listening to radio music and random chit chat.
