Pauper

I look like a nanny, babysitting both thirty years old human. Nasa katabing table nila ako samantalang nag-uusap sila sa nakaraan nila. They're reminiscing their ugly past. Red cancelled his meeting later for Alexa. Pagkatapos ng meeting kanina ay dumiretso siya agad sa opisina ng hindi ako tinatapunan ng tingin. I even sat on the backseat, like we used to. Pinagkaiba nga lang hindi na ako ang Pauper na tahimik lang sa likod habang nasasaktan sa dalawa sa harapan, I interrupted them every now and then that they forced to stop their conversation, kasi sabat ako nang sabat.

I lifted my chair and placed it in between theirs. Magkaharap sila at nasa gitna na ako. Pareho silang natahimik at tiningnan akong kumuha ng pagkain ni Red.

"Sorry, gutom na kasi ako. Wala pa ang pagkain ko" kibit-balikat kong sabi

Pinabalik ko ang isinerve na pagkain ng waitress. Binigay ko sa kanya, busy naman sila para malaman ang ginawa ko.

"May sarili kang lamesa besp-" I quickly shoved the vegetable in his mouth and rolled my eyes at him

"Nakakabagot. Wala akong makausap"

"You can sit with us, it's alright" nakangiting untag ni Alexa. I forgot she's still here

"Really? That's so sweet of you. So, anong pinag-uusapan natin?" I chirped and gracefully wipe my lips with the napkin

I looked at Red who is now glaring at me. Hindi ko siya pinansin at tiningnan si Alexa

"How are you? Alam ba ng asawa mo na may kinikita kang iba?" I asked her nonchalantly

Tipid siyang ngumiti bago nilapag ang kubyertos sa pinggan

"Aigne, they already broke up. Her husband doesn't have the rights to her now" saway ni Red sa'kin

I groaned when I saw his lips gleaming with the beef sauce. Kinuha ko ang napkin ko at pinahiran ng marahan ang labi niya. I can feel a bolt rundown throughout my body. Shit. Labi niya pa lang ang nahahawakan ko. It's so soft like a baby's hand.

Tumikhim agad ako at binalik sa hita ko ang napkin. I smiled sweetly at him

"Ang oily kasi tingnan" napailing na lang siya sa'kin bago sinubuan si Alexa

He used his own spoon to fed her. That irked me.

"Excuse me? Kayo na ba? You're sharing your saliva. Did you know human to human transmission is one of the reasons why diseases spread easily?" I didn't hide my disgust and distaste

Ngumiwi si Red sa narinig at pinitik ang noo ko. Maarte ko namang pinahiran ang noo ko

"Where did you get that? It's that from the great scientist Pauper?" He joked and keep on feeding her that made her giggle to his corny joke

"Whatever" I raised my hand to get the waitress attention and ordered a food again

Habang naghihintay ay tahimik na ang dalawa but their giggles is getting into my nerves. Especially Alexa's high pitched tone.

"Excuse me, I have to go to the restroom" she said in a small baby voice

"Aigne, you should go with her" gulat akong napalingon kay Red at tinaasan siya ng kilay

"No need, I can help myself" she giggled again.

"Yes. She's old enough Red" I said rolling my eyes and placed both of my elbow to the table and cupped my face

She stood up and leave us

"I will go with he-" kumunot ang noo ko sa narinig at mabilis na pinigilan siya bago pa siya makatayo
