_MIN YOONGI_I was sitting in my tent silently and thinking about yesterday. I was so sure that I'd get the opportunity to lead the team. The city is not as safe as the camp. There's danger out there.
With all the complexity of the mission in mind, I wanted to be the one to lead my team through out the mission. But as always, this opportunity was also stolen from me. And that too by the one and only Jackie.
I heard the zipper of the tent open. Through the entrance came none other than our respected chief.
"Good morning chief" I said sarcastically because my morning wasn't going good and I didn't want his to go well either.
"Call me dad, son" he came to hug me but I moved away.
"Seriously? Call you dad? Aren't dads supposed to love their sons?" I barked at him.
"What are you even talking about son?"
"I am taking about you. Did you ever love me or you just care about that Jackie. You've always chosen her upon your own son."
"You are getting this wrong Yoongi" he tried to explain himself but I wasn't buying it.
Ever since my mom died, dad had been spending all of his time with Rosalind and her daughter. He started treating Jackie as his own daughter and forgot about his son. Whenever Jackie fell down, he helped her stand up but whenever I fell down, he stood afar and criticized me. Maybe that's why I hate Jackie so much now. Even a slight smile on her face makes me angry. It feels like my father stole it from me and gave it to her.
"I am not getting this wrong dad. You've always made her your first priority and you did it again yesterday. You made her captain even though I was the clear winner of the competition" my voice was getting weaker as I was breaking down.
"There's a difference between a winner and a leader son. Of course you were the winner yesterday and you were rewarded accordingly. But a leader is someone who doesn't care about winning. Instead they care about their team's safety. A leader should be rational enough to choose what's more important and yesterday Jackie clearly showed that she's a born leader when she helped Jungkook instead of getting her trophy although she was just a step away."
I couldn't help but laugh at my dad's lecture. He always had a reason to support that girl.
"Don't explain yourself dad. I know what this is all about. You are trying to forget me just like you forgot mom. Now you only care about Rosalind and her daughter."
My head snapped to my right as I felt a hard slap was placed on my cheek. For the first time, my father slapped me.
Without wasting a single second I ran out of the tent and directly to the river side. I sat on a stone and started throwing pebbles in the water creating circular waves on the surface.
I tried hard to not breakdown. Maybe my father hates me but my mom loves me and is seeing me from wherever she is. I can't let her down. I'll prove that I am the strongest, whether anybody believes it or not.
