_JACKIE_
"I wish you all the luck daughter. I know you'll be the best leader the team could ever get" mom said while cupping my face with her soft hands. It's been 4 days since the competition and today's the day we were going to the city.
"Thanks Mom, I promise you I won't let you down" I said while, looking down at her sparkling blue eyes. She smiled at me and went to the trunk to search for something.
"What are you searching mom?"
"Wait a second" saying so, she took out a small ruler sort of thing. There was a small button on the black object. She pressed the button and a shiny silver blade came out from a slit that was present at the side of the object.
"Woah mom, why do you have a knife with you?"
"It's your father's. He gave it to me for self defense. I know you'll be provided with much stronger weapons but keep this with you as a good luck charm. This is one of the very few things I have left of him."
I could see a droplet of water roll down from her eyes as she pronounced the last few words.
"Don't worry mom. I'll never let this out of my sight. With this in my possession, I'll feel like dad himself is by my side." I took the knife from her and inserted it in my already filled backpack.
With my prepared self, I came out of my tent and straight away walked to the field.
"Are you nervous?" Jessie asked while running up to me.
"No. Are you?" I asked her back.
"Very much. What if I mess up? What if you guys fail the mission because of me? Oh God, we don't even know what's the mission! What if-" I pressed my palm on her mouth to stop her blabbering.
"Don't worry Jessie. You are a strong fighter. There's a reason chief chose you out of so many people. Respect his decision" I tried to calm her down.
"Thank you Jackie" she smiled. "You know what, I'm glad that the chief chose you leader instead of Yoongi." We both started giggling at her comment.
Soon the chief arrived with Adonis following suit behind him. He brought a wooden cart that carried several weapons. The armaments were nothing like the ones we used in our training. These were better.
"Take your suits and choose whatever weapon you feel comfortable with" Chief announced with his pristine voice and we started collecting them like a bunch of kids fighting over a tray of candies. I took the suit that had my name tag on it and I collected a portable laser sword, two riffles and a handful of electrocuting grenades. I inserted all of them in my backpack.
"Each of your suits have trackers, audio communication, a display screen and sensors" Adonis started explaining the features. "The trackers will keep us updated about your exact location, we will be in constant communication through the speakers and headset, the display screen will show you a map of your destination if needed and the sensors will make your whole suit transparent so that it looks invisible and you can wear it in plain sight without creating suspicion."
Cool!!
"You will leave as soon as your fifth member arrives."
That's when I realized that Yoongi wasn't there in the gathering. Where was he? I gave the chief a questioning look but he just shrugged it off as if knowing his son's whereabouts wasn't quite natural for him.
We waited for like six minutes in complete silence untill the prince decided to show up. He just casually took his suit and necessities and joined the que without uttering a single word.
"Are you trying to make me regret my decision of choosing you, Min Yoongi?" Chief scoffed in an angry voice. I have never seen him so much vexed before.
"How does it matter? You already regret the decision of having me as your son" Yoongi exclaimed nonchalantly. They must have had another quarrel recently.
Chief just sighed tiredly. Maybe because he didn't want to get into another argument with his son. He looked miserable, sorrow was evident in his eyes. Everyone in this world aren't privileged enough to have a father in their life. Yoongi is lucky to have one but he doesn't even realize that.
"Okay, follow me children" chief led us to the border of the camp. He walked up and stood in front of a tall banyan tree. He pulled one of it's short branches and a button appeared near the roots of the tree. He pressed the button and immediately a blue laser shield appeared in front of us. This was the shield that protected our camp from Daniel. It was generally invisible but had the power to burn anybody to ashes.
The button the chief pressed disabled the laser.
"Good luck children" he smiled at us.
As soon as we walked beyond the border the blue layer reappeared and then just faded into thin air indicating it's re-establishment. All five of us bid our goodbyes and walked into the city.
