Chapter 23: To the rescue

After running for what felt like hours but were actually 20 minutes, I was finally standing face to face with Daniel's huge mansion. Although it had pretty exteriors, it seemed like a creepy castle to me. I successfully hid myself behind the garden bushes there by staying completely unnoticed by the men who were guarding the massive gates.

Walking was too risky so I started crawling my way towards the secret passage in the old man's chamber but was surprised to discover that the hole in the wall was nicely blocked with bricks and cement. I should have anticipated this after the little sneaky stunt Yoongi and I pulled up the last time. I didn't waste much time and took shelter behind a thick tree trunk as I started calculating my next moves. Unfortunately, I came here in a hurry and was too dumb to think this all through and prepare accordingly.

After plotting for several seconds, I still couldn't come up with a relevant plan. Ugh! Did my brain go on a vacation or what? I didn't want to delay my actions. We still didn't know if Yoongi left on his own or if someone forced him but in either ways he could be in danger. I was still confused about my feelings for him but one thing was pretty affirmative that I didn't want him dead. So I did the first thing that came in my mind.

I ran to the entrance and pushed the massive gates with full force. The metal gates crashed against the boundary wall and a huge sound resonated through the silent night. As a result, the half sleepy guards jolted awake and immediately snapped their heads in my direction. I felt a shiver run down my spine as their angry gazes were fixated on me and me only. I however set aside the fear and stood straight in front of them. I knew my moves could end up killing me but I didn't have any other option. I had to take this risk for Yoongi.

Three guards came running towards my direction but I didn't make any effort to run away from them. I stood their, rooted to my spot as they gabbed both of my hands and started pulling me inside the castle. I started thrashing a bit in their hold, only a bit and not too hard, just to create no suspicion.

"She has weapons on her" one of them yelled out.

"Leave me, let me go!!" I fake cried but they didn't budge. I internally smirked as I could see my plan working. They took me all the way inside the building and pushed me in one of their cells. They then tied my wrists and ankles up with a rough rope and took away my bag of weapons.

"Stop. Let me go! I want to kill Daniel. That bastard killed my father. I will avenge his death" I put up a believable show, although it was completely true. The guards didn't even bother to utter a single word.

They just left me there and ran away, most probably to inform their ruler about the intrusion. However, two men stayed behind to guard me.

I was elated to see that my plan worked. After all, this was the fastest way to get inside the building. Now the next part needed to be implemented.

I, as silently as possible, dragged myself to the nearest wall. I leaned against the cold surface and lifted my hip off the ground just a bit. Staying in that position, I dragged my tied up wrists down my body all the way to my feet. Then I took out dad's dagger from my boot. Good thing I hid it there. I used the sharp object and cut through the ropes that were holding me down, first the ankles then the wrists.

While maintaining the pin drop silence, I proceeded towards the cell gates only to see that the two guards were dozing off. Huh, suckers. I started thinking of how to open the gate lock and that's when I noticed that it wasn't actually locked. I was just closed. I guess they forgot to lock it in a hurry.

Anyways I escaped the cell and attacked one of the guards from behind. It was dark so they didn't notice me. I didn't show any mercy and jabbed the knife in his throat. He might not be a bad guy but he still stood in my path and I had no other choice but to eliminate him.

A slight scream left his mouth and it alerted the other guard. He approached me with angry strides but I was quick to react. Just when he was about to grab me, I slid down and inserted the knife forcefully in his feet. Immediately a loud whimper escaped his mouth. I didn't give him time to react as I stood back up and jabbed the knife in his throat, just like the previous guy.

With that I started running towards the corridor that led to the dungeon where the old man was held captive. I had a gut feeling that Yoongi would be there. But as I was about to enter the room with that antique book case in it, the dark corridor lit up.

Shit!

I turned around only to realize that now I was surrounded by seven guards, all pointing their guns at me. Chill ran down my spine and I gulped in fear. I raised my hands in surrender.

Suddenly a loud gunshot rang through the entire building, followed by five more.
