Shinichi's POV

Professor Agasa has back. And he brings an extra person with him.

"Ran... Nee-chan" I know she would come at once when she hear about this. That is her kind side of her. But I'm afraid Haibara would not like the idea of Ran to be here. I never really understand why she always try to stay away from Ran. Maybe it's just that she's not usually meet a caring type like Ran. Ch, that cold blooded woman.

"Conan-kun. Is Ai-chan still asleep?"

"I guess she is. She doesn't get enough sleep lately. Say, Ran-Neechan, why are you here?" I reply with my usual child-like tone.

"Well? Why are you asking me that, Conan-kun??" She's slightly annoyed by my question. "Do you not like me being here? Why? You don't think I would make her condition worse, do you? That's so mean!" Well, you couldn't say she will be better if you're here after all.

"A-ah.. I didn't mean it that way. A ha ha ha ha" I chuckle nervously. "But you know Ran-Neechan, I think it's better if you keep this a secret from Detective boys. It's for her safety" I can't imagine those kids would make a fuss here resulting a more restless Haibara.

"Her safety? I don't understand, Conan-kun. What are you trying to say?"

"Well you know, the detective boys could be noisy. And Haibara needs as much sleep as she can get. So I'm afraid it would be bad for her after all"

"Aaah.. I see" she replied with smile. What kind of smile is that? It's the kind of smile she's wearing when she's uncertain about something. Did I say anything funny? I don't think so. Well I guess all of these Haibara things are consuming my sanity. I'm getting aware of something not related to the case.

"Say, Conan-kun, you haven't had any breakfast right? Let me find you something to eat"

"Okay, thank you Ran-Neechan"

She slide away out of the room as I hear a mumble from the bed. It's Haibara but her eyes are still closed. Looks like she's talking in her sleep.

"Did you hear her mumbling just now, professor?"

"Ai-kun? No, I didn't. Is she awake?"

"I don't think so. She's still sleeping soundly. But I think I heard her mumbling just now. Could be a mistake"

And then again.

"Kun.." Now I'm sure she's talking in her sleep. Another nightmare?

"Haibara" I call her as I reach her bed side, taking her right palm on mine. "Haibara, you hear me?"

"Kudo.. kun" she's sweating again. What is it her nightmare about?

"Kudo-kun.. Kudo-kun... Kudo-kun!" Her voice is raising. She's panicking in her dream.

"Hey, haibara. It's me, I'm here. Stop shouting. Wake up!" I started panicking myself. She keeps calling my name out loud. The doctor! I should tell the doctor!

"Professor! Get the nurse!" I shout in panicked tone. She's not waking up. It's torturing her. That damn organization, you'll pay for these! I need to start working on something faster. So she wouldn't be restless anymore. Wait for it, Haibara. I will surely burned them down to ashes.

Ran's POV

I was so caught up on Conan-kun's word that I forgot to bring my wallet. I left it in my bag at Ai-chan's room. It's for her safety... That's exactly the same words as Shinichi's. It must be coincidence, right? I'm just thinking too much.

As I walk back to the room, I hear a shouting. It's Ai-chan. I run to see what's going on.

"Kudo-kun!"

What? I stopped in front of the door in shock. I try to calm myself down, and listen to it more. Ai-chan's voice is getting louder.

"Kudo-kun... Kudo-kun!"

It's true, she said Kudo. But how? Why would she calling Shinichi out? I want to know what happened but something in my heart prevents me to enter the room. Has Ai-chan awake? Why does she shouting? Or is it her talking in her sleep?

"Haibara!" It's Conan-kun's voice. "It's me, I'm here", but she keeps shouting the Kudo-kun's name.

"Professor! Get the nurse!"

I should hide somewhere! After I see the professor leaving the room to call the nurse, I decided to stay hidden. I would still able to hear everything from here. The nurse come with the doctor not long after. For God's sake! This is a modern hospital after all, why don't you press the nurse button just beside the bed. I guess they're just panicking their self out.

And the shouting stopped. She has a serious anxiety, so the doctor said. So it was a nightmare. Still it doesn't explain why Ai-chan's calling Shinichi out in her nightmare. And Conan-kun. He said the word I'm here when he tried to wake Ai-chan up. Is it possible that Conan-kun really is Shinichi?

No. It's not possible. There are bunch of prove that they're not the same person. I can be sure who was the real Shinichi, I even recognized the fake Shinichi played by Kaito Kid.

I decided to put this matter behind my head. Maybe it's just any Kudo-kun that Ai-chan knew from her past. Talking about her past, she related to the professor but I never know for sure about her family background. Never mind, I can just ask the professor later.

I enter the room as if nothing happened and explain to Conan-kun that I left my wallet behind.

"Is Ai-chan still sleeping?"

"Yeah, she is"

He answered me without looking away from her face. Long pause. He doesn't say anything about the nightmare.

"Where's professor Agasa?"

"Ah. He went to meet the doctor a moment ago"

"Oh I see. Well, Conan-kun, can I ask you something?"

"What is it Ran-Neechan?"

"Mmm. Does Ai-chan know about... Mmm.. about her being in the hospital?"

I can't say it. I don't know why but I just can't. Maybe I'm just being considerate. Or is it that I'm afraid of the answer?

"I can't sure about it, last night I told her the ambulance was going to pick her up. And then she hasn't been wake up since that time"

"Oh I see. Say, Conan-kun, I'll go to the cafetaria once again. Are you okay being here alone?"

"It's okay, Ran-Neechan. Haibara is here too right?" He grinned.

As I walk pass the door, I feel uneasy. I can't hide it, the Kudo-kun name that Ai-chan is calling is bothering me. I need to keep this for myself for now. I need to find out the truth. I'm sorry Shinichi, it's not that I don't trust you. But, you have too many secrets this past year. I can't help but feel I'm being left out.
