Chapter 5

Ai's POV

They got him. They got Kudo-kun. I finished the antidote and he carelessly does his detective job while meeting his girlfriend. I shouldn't have given him the antidote too soon back there. I have to do this right this time. I will face them and ask them to let him go at any price.

They should be here. There he is. Gin.

"Well,well. Sherry. I should say, you are unexpectedly hard to beat, eh."
His cold and murderous tone makes me shiver at once.

"Where is he?" I couldn't hide my trembling voice anymore. Please, just tell me his alive.

"Straight to the point, aren't we? He's alive, if that's what you eager to know".

Thank God. This is good. Now, Shiho, it's time to offer them a deal!

"I won't believe you until I really see him alive. What do you want exactly, Gin?"

"What do I want? That's a funny question, Sherry. Have you forgotten the organization's way of work? We didn't do what we want. We do what we need to"

He slowly reach to me while playing with his gun. And out of the blue he fires it to my left knee. I fell instantly, bearing the pain and hold my scream.

"Walk, Sherry! Come on! Wake up! Let me reunite you with your knight"

I give all my strength to stand on my feet and follow Gin. It's getting darker and it's impossible for me to remember the direction. My sight is getting blurry . This is not good. I have to think of the way out, at least for him. I hope he's sober enough to proceed the running.

We arrived at a small room deep down in the basement. I can't remember how far down I've been through. And there I see him. He currently on his Conan form. So they gave him the apotoxin again, huh.

"Haibara, what are you doing here?"

Still try to be cool huh, Kudo-kun.

"And now, Sherry, you've seen him alive."

Clack. Bang!

No! No! Kudo-kun.. Kudo-kun!

I scream in pain and couldn't believe what just happened. Gin is laughing evilly and I feel a great pain crushing inside my chest.

Shinichi's POV

She's screaming again. It's 8 pm and she's still unconscious. I can't stand this. You need to wake up now, Haibara.

"Haibara". I'm caressing his forehead and wiping out her sweat. "Wake up, would you? Can't you hear me? You're in your sleep right now. Come on, it's not real. What happen down there?"

I see tears rolling down her cheek. What kind of dream is she having?

"Kudo-kun.."

Now she's saying my name in a weak voice. She's in pain. I suddenly remember when she's got shot by Gin a long time ago. She really is in pain that time, but somehow she stayed cool with it that time. But now, look at her crying in her sleep. Is it more painful that those gunshots? Now, Haibara, I've never seen you cried since your sister's death.

Yukiko's POV

"Shin-chan"

He fell asleep by the window. His hand is holding Ai-chan's. Hmm, this kiddo can be unbelievably charming sometimes.

"Shin-chan, wake up it's me"

"Ah. Mom. What is it?"

"Huuuuh shin-chan you meanie. How could you forgot to call me and just say what is it on my face."

"Heeeh, come on, you must've heard from Agasa already. What's the point of calling you again after all? It's not like I'm going somewhere far. Besides, you're here now. So, what is it that brings you here at this hour. It's 1 am already, how did you get inside?"

"Never mind. Is she alright? What happened really?" I see her face is losing all colour now and she's sweating and restless. Her breathing is heavy and uneasy.

"She's having a continuous nightmare. I don't know for now, but looking from her condition, she must be dreaming about the organization. She has the ability to sense them. And I've never seen her this bad before. We can't know anything unless she's wake up from her endless slumber"

"But shin-chan, the last time we confront them, we are able to trick Vermouth to think that she's already dead" We really owe Kaito Kid much for that time.

"Yeah. Haibara knows that also. That's why, there's a high possibility that she senses something stronger these past days"

And this could be serious that she hides it from Shinichi. She naturally quite and calm. Truth is, I can see deep inside herself that she wants to depend on Shinichi so much. But she always being considerate that she clearly draw a line around her. If only I could get inside that line once, Ai-chan.

"Kudo-kun"

This time, she said that with her eyes opened. Shinichi lean to her bed in an instant and caressing her cheek. This is getting interesting. I know I'm not supposed to think about that in this time. But I can't help but finding this amused me.

"Haibara? Hey.. you awake?"

"Of course I'm asleep. Don't flatter yourself"

Now she really is awake. I can't help but smiling. Her cold and sarcastic personality is somewhat lovely. I'm approaching her bed to have a better sight of her. Her eyes caught me. Tears?

"You're here? I'm sorry for being rude. I didn't recognize you here a moment ago." She apologized politely.

"How are you feeling, Ai-chan? Are you having a sad dream? You're crying" I help her when she tried to sit. She looks surprised by my question and quickly averting my gaze. It's that line again, she still wouldn't open herself to someone else.

"Yeah, you even called my name in histerical manner since this morning" Shinichi's joining the conversation, while his eyes show uneasiness. He worried about her. "What did you see in your dream?" He asked her impatiently.

"Did I? Aren't you flattering yourself so much, Kudo-kun? It must be that I'm getting tired of you lately, you corpse magnet" Ai-chan answered him coldly, trying to hide the turbulence inside her mind. "So, what murder case do we have here so far?"

"Oi, oi. Do you think I would buy that?" Said shinichi while squinting his eyes annoyed.

"Alright kids. Be nice to each other while I'm going out of here. I can rest assured now that Ai-chan's already wake up."

"Mom, could you tell the nurse that she's awake? The doctor needs to make sure about her condition."

"Will do. See you again soon, Ai-chan" I winked at her while drifting away. She will be okay, Shin-chan will keep his eyes on her. What will Yu-chan think about this I supposed? I can't wait to tell him the details. I walk cheerfully towards my car and drive home.
