ellie munched silently on her delicious nuggets as the others still kept on typing or doing whatever they do on their phones.
ellie could hear the mcdonald's workers getting frustrated with a certain four orders. they called out the order and the number numerous times. they called them out once again but no body came.
wait
those orders are more than likely the others orders. there are four unowned trays up there and four people who are stuck to their screens.
ellie put her fist on the table and stalked off to get the food. only jaden looked up.
"i'm so sorry" ellie said to the poor employee. "it's my friends, they got too distracted on there phones, sorry once again" the worker tutted but handed over the now semi-cold food.
as ellie walked over she realised that mystically the others had put away there phones and were waiting eagerly for there food.
ellie plopped down the trays and sat back down in her spot and continued with her own dinner.
"is it just me or is our food cold" josh complained. the three phone addicts nodded in agreement.
"yeah it is, you were on your phones so you didn't notice it was ready" ellie explained in the best way she could. she didn't wanna sound like a bitch.
"ah it's fine, it's still nice" jaden said stuffing his face.
the others mumbled in a sorta agreement way.
ellie mentally rolled her eyes.

"it's like they weren't even there, payt it was really bad, like i love them so much but they need to chill with the screen time"
"sorry el, you have to just get used to it, they are simply just like that, trust me i've been in your shoes, sometimes it's like talking to a blank wall"
ellie immediately rang payton the second she came through the door after the bad mcdonald's outing.
"it's just i leave in three days and i wanna spend as much time with them as possible, i mightn't be able to see them for ages"
"also bryce,quinton and anthony weren't like that" mumbled ellie. she didn't wanna seem like she was favouring they sway members over the people she is staying with now but she's just saying the truth.

ellie has recently just got off the phone with payton. literally just putting it down, screen-first on her desk, after having a little tiktok scroll, when she got a couple of notifications in a row.
when she looked at them she was kinda shocked to see it was an apology from everyone in mcdonald's today.
wow.
she smiled a shy little smile and typed back
"it's ok :)"
it was. after all.
they were her best friends.
