July 17th
Today just might be the day I die, I was certain of it. Today, Friday, July 17th marks the first day of Kayla staying over our house before the delivery of her and my brother's child. Don't get me wrong, I love Kay but she was NEEDY. I understand it because of the pregnancy and all but my brother and I have been running all over the place tying to make things comfortable and easier for her. Can you do this, can you do that. Can you get this, can you get that. I need this, I need that. It's gotten to the point where I had to call Melo over for help. My mom even went on a "business trip" to get out the house so she wouldn't have to hear her nagging. Now here I am, nearly ready to pull my hair out from the roots.
"Melo I don't know if I can keep on doing this. I mean she's not due for another 3 DAYS!" I ranted to Melo. I was currently in my room sitting in Melo's lap on my bed, my back pressed against his chest and his face in the crook of my neck while his arms wrapped loosely around me.
"Baby we finally got a break just relax." He kissed my neck. And relax is just what I did. I always found solace in Melo's arms. I shut my eyes and basked in them for as long as I could.
"XIA!!!!" I heard a yell come from downstairs. My eyes immediately shot open and my eyebrows furrowed.
"So much for a damn break" He huffed. We've been running around like chickens with their heads cut off for hours, HOURS. I reluctantly got up from Melo's lap and we both made our way to the living room where Kayla was lounging and watching TV.
I glared at Jere as we walked past him to Kayla.
"What she's making me massage her feet!" He whispered to me. I stood in front of where Kayla was sitting putting a forced smile on my face.
"Ugh Xia took you long enough." She groaned. Took you long eno- I outta. "Can you and Melo go get me some ice cream please. Mint Chocolate Chip and Cookie Dough will do, We're craving." She waved us away with one hand while her other one rubbed her belly. What did she think we were? Some slaves? I'll smack the baby outta her. I opened my mouth to say something but Melo put a hand on my shoulder.
"We'll be back with the ice cream soon, C'mon Xi." Melo dragged me out of the living room.
"No why did you stop me I was about to air her OUT." I crossed my arms.
"Because I know you're just upset and you would have felt bed for it afterwards. You love Kayla and you have to remember she's about to have a baby, your niece, your brother's daughter. Her hormones are going crazy and she's young, this is her first child. It's all new to her." He was right, I loosened up and grabbed the keys and threw them to him. He was pretty wise sometimes.
"Alright, let's go you're driving!" I ran to out to the passenger seat.
"Of course you would make me drive." He sucked his teeth as he got in and started the car.
"Ooo lemme play a song, this low key jump." I connected my phone and put on "Burn Hollywood Burn" by Public Enemy and Ice Cube.
"Watchu know bout some old school hip hop." He looked over at me. I rapped the song to whole way to the store.
We ended up just going to the gas station since it was near by and we knew they sold ice cream. When we got out the car Melo threw his arm over my shoulders as we walked in.
"I noticed something." I looked up at him. " You're pretty clingy."
"You wanna know what I noticed? You like being touched, you just don't like initiating it. That's why I'm so touchy with you, you love it." He planted a kiss on my cheek. I smiled, he wasn't wrong about that.
