July 18th

After Kayla's water broke a few hours ago we all rushed to the Hospital. Me and Melo stayed outside the room and called my mom and Kayla's parents so they could come and be here for it. I wasn't sure if Kayla's parents were going to answer or come but I called anyways. They weren't very supportive of the whole pregnancy thing. They thought their daughter was too young. 21 may be a little young but to me, I feel like a child is a blessing and as long as you are of legal age there is nothing wrong with starting a family. Some people don't have the privilege of even being able to start one. Some people are already well off once they've turned 18 and are able to provide for a family, it all depends on the person.

For most people having a baby at a young age wasn't something that was planned but surprisingly, this was. I know crazy right? Jeremiah wanting to start a family? This young? He was only 20 but it was something they both wanted to do and talked about deeply. They've been together since freshman year. Even started looking for their own place. My mom was okay with it, Kayla was a sweetheart and they both had jobs and could support themselves. She also had us pretty young so she understands, although we weren't necessarily planned.

My mom ended up showing but Kayla's parents? No show. I hope she wouldn't be too hurt by it. Kayla lived with her parents but the relationship between them wasn't there. She always talked to me about how they never really talked and they could walk past each other without even exchanging a word. I know living like that must be hard, but she has us and she always will. I couldn't wait to meet my niece.

My eyes fluttered open and I raised my head from Melo's shoulders. I stretched and yawned then rubbed my eyes. I turned to him sitting next to me.

"Dip how long has it been?"

"Like 4 hours." He said pulling me back into him. Damn how'd I sleep that long?

"Where did my mom go?" I looked up at him.

"The bathroom." He sounded tired. Just then my mom came around the corner.

"Xia your finally awake. Oh look at you two, I should take a picture." My mom took out her phone.

"Momma stop..." I covered my face and turned putting my face in Melo's neck, Melo laughed. I saw the flash of light behind my hand and finally uncovered my face.

"You're so embarrassing." I said with slight attitude.

"Oh hush I thought you guys looked cute. That's why my picture came out good anyways." She stuck her tongue out at me.

"We are cute right?" Melo said shaking me. I look at him to see him smiling widely. His smile always made melt. I felt one creep up on my own face.

"Yeah we are cute" I pecked him on his lips.

"Alright no PDA." My mom said from beside me. I looked at her and playfully rolled my eyes.

When I looked back toward the door to Kayla's room it opened and Jere emerged from behind it peeking out.

"Y'all it's all done. Our new addition is here." He smiled. We all jumped up excited to meet the little ball of joy.

"My first grand baby. I cant wait to meet her..." My mom walked up to Jeremiah and hugged him.

"Ma you wanna meet her first? Then Xia and Melo you guys could come in." We shook our heads as he brought my mom into the room. Melo sat down and pulled me down to sit on one of his legs instead of a seat of my own. He snaked his arms around me.

"Baby isn't this so exciting, you get to meet your niece." He said putting his chin on my shoulder. "And you don't have to worry about helping Kay for 3 more days anymore." We both laughed. I was so relieved I wouldn't have to slave around for another day. That mess was tiring.

"Yeah, I can't wait to see her. I bet you she's gonna look just like Jere."

We sat there for a few moments until my mom came back out. Me and Melo stood up, ready to go in our selves.

"You're gonna love her, she's beautiful." My mom softly said putting a hand on my shoulder. It looked like she had cried a bit, she always was emotional. Jere waved us in and we walked in the room to see Kayla sitting up on the bed holding the small child in her arms. She was looking at her sweetly smiling then she looked up at us noticing that we walked in.

"Guys come!" She motioned us over. We walked over and looked at the baby she held in her lap. She was beautiful. An awe escaped my lips.

"Guys meet Mariah Marie Carter" I smiled, she gave her our last name.

"Hey cutie!" I took her little hand in mine, her eyes closed. "Can I hold her?" Kayla nodded her head and handed little Riah over me me. I positioned my hand to support her neck and held her close to my chest. Melo stood behind me. Both of his hands on my waist as he peeked over my shoulder at the child.

"She really took Jere's whole facial structure." Melo chuckled. She really did look just like him but she had her mother's big pretty eyes. Her focus was on Melo behind me as she kicked her little legs, not sparing one glance at me.

"He's cute right?" I giggled.

"Hey, are you okay about your parents not coming?" I turned to Kayla.

"Yeah I kind of expected it. It's okay though, you guys are my family. You, Jere, and Helena plus my little love right there are all I need." She shrugged her shoulders and smiled.

"Don't forget about Uncle Melo!" Melo said happily behind me.

"And Uncle Melo.." Kayla laughed. I turned around and smiled at Melo.

"Uncle Melo huh?" I smirked.

"Of course." He grinned.

I gave Mariah back to her mother and went back to Melo, finding myself wrapped up in his arms as always.

"Do you think we're gonna stay together long enough to have kids of our own?" Melo said lowly to me. I was a little taken back by the question at first. I didn't even know Melo was thinking that far in about us.

"I don't know, too early to tell." Deep down, that was something I definitely would want with him in the future.

He sighed.

"I hope so."

"I hope so too."
