House Warming pt. 1

July 31st

Melo

"I can't believe this was your great idea of a gift..." Xia shook her head as we walked up to her brothers doorstep, gift bag in hand.

I took her free hand in mine and sucked my teeth.

"There's nothing wrong with my gift fool."

"Baby you literally got him a lame ass coffee mug as a house warming gift..."

"And all you got was a gift card" I scoffed.

"Yeah a $100 gift card to Home Goods. My gift is definitely better than yours, at least he could actually go decorate his home." Xia said as we walked through the door. There were plenty of people, I'm surprise Jere had this many friends. The house was fairly empty furniture wise since he just moved in but it was a nice looking place for sure. He at least had a couch and sitting area which was good enough for my lazy ass. Chill music was playing, food and drinks flowing around.

"I'm gonna go put the gift in the corner with the rest of them you go ahead and find your brother." I kissed Xia's cheek and took the gift bag from her hand

"Ew!" She wiped my kiss off the side of her face giggles left her lips.

"Quit playin with me Xi..." I jokingly warned and went to put the gift down. Once I set it down I looked around to figure out where Xia was and found her with Kayla and Jeremiah on the other side of the room.

"So where's my niece." I said walking up next to Xia snaking an arm around her shoulders.

"Well hello to you too Melo..." Kayla smiled and gave me a side hug.

"What's good Dip." Jere dapped me
up.

"Dealing with your crazy ass sister. Other than that, nothing much." I braced myself for a hit because I knew that's how Xia was going to respond. The next  moment I felt a stinging pain in my arm from where Xia just punched the fuck outta me.

"Ah I didn't mean it!" I lied.

I did though.

"Melo imma show you crazy later if you keep on playing with me." Xia crosses her arms. She was so cute when she was bothered.

"I'm sorry I was joking you're kinda normal, now gimme kiss." I turned her head towards me and planted a kiss on her lips.

"Alright enough of that shit, hows the house since I moved out Xi?" Kayla laughed as Jere was trying to put a quick end to me and Xia's affections.

"Huh? Oh it's quiet and pretty boring but Melo is over all the time now. As much as mom wanted you to move out and 'become independent' she misses you a lot." Xia shook her head.

"I knew momma was gonna miss me I was her favorite." Jeremiah smirked.

"You must be outta your mind." Xia scoffed. "Anyways I'm going in your empty ass kitchen to go get a drink cuz homegirl is parched." with that she walked away.

"So Jere, Kay...how you like the new place?" I turned my attention back to them.

"Well it's in a really good area, the neighbors are really nice, we don't live too far away." Kayla smiled.

"Yeah it's a nice lil area for Mariah to grow up in." Jeremiah added.

"I'm glad y'all like it and I hope y'all enjoy all the gifts but if you'll excuse me I have to go on a hunt for yo sister, she's been gone for a hot minute now." I said walking away to go find my girlfriend.

I made my way towards the kitchen where Xia said she was going but before I could make it in I was stopped in my tracks by what I was witnessing.

Xia was in there laughing a lil too hard with some random dude and they were a little too close for comfort. I watched as she laughed at whatever he said and brought her hand up to touch his shoulder. His hand was on one of her arms. He was a darkskin with some twists and was about two inches taller than Xia, I could take him if I had to. Who is this nigga?

I found myself narrowing my eyes at them but a hand on my shoulder caused me to jump from my thoughts.

"Someone's jealous~" I turned to see Kayla coming up behind me.

"Yeah ight. Who is that anyways? She seems to know him pretty well from the way they're a second away from damn near kissing." I snipped.

"Melo it's not that serious." Kayla laughed dismissing me. I didn't find anything funny. "Thats Malik, a good friend of Jere's. They've been friends for a long time so Xia knows him through Jere. I didn't know that Xia was still cool with him till now though..."

"Why wouldn't they be cool? They're friends right.." I gave her a look.

"Well, because that's also her ex."

The word ex started echoing through my head. I don't know why but I felt a sudden anger wash over me.
