she was staring at my hand longer than i expected.
" may i? " i asked again, still wanting to dance with her. i was playing the song i made for her. broken raindrops.
she coughed slightly before accepting my hand.
" don't be tensed. " i jokingly stated, before placing my phone on a table nearby.
" i am not. " she said, furrowing her brows. i only chuckled before i snaked my hands on her waist and her hands wrapped around my neck. i started to sway, dragging her smoothly. we were doing a simple waltz, but my heart was racing frantically. if it weren't for the music, our heartbeats would have been our song.
" your heartbeat's crazy. " she said, giving me a quick smirk. i raised my eyebrow and smirked back.
" are you sure that it's mine? " i retorted. the smirk was wiped off from her face and was replaced with a shocked expression. she looked away from me, probably feeling her own heart beat.
" but i do think it's mine. " i said. she looked right through my eyes and there i saw my reflection. how i glowed under the moon's brilliance. i wish i was the only one she thinks about.
she looked up to me, in a way that made my heart beat run faster. her eyes are so beautiful, yet sad. her hazel eyes were peacefully gazing towards me and yet i could still feel the sadness it bore. those orbs made me feel a lot of things, and sadness was one.
i closed my eyes to get rid of the pain and just enjoy the moment with her. then i heard sniffs. i immediately opened my eyes and saw her trying to stifle a sob.
" h-hey "
i didn't know what to do.
i was panicking inside but i tried to wipe her tears away. i rubbed my thumbs against her cheeks as tears continued to stream down.
" what is it? " i softly asked, cupping her cheeks, to make her look at me. she was still sniffing, her hands making its way to her face, covering it.
" hey hey, it's okay. " i said, wrapping my arms around her. i gently placed her head on my shoulders as her sobs were no longer silent. i could already feel that my shoulders were wet because of her tears, but it's okay. as long as she can take the pain away.
" i'm sorry. " she said, when her sobs finally went down. she was wiping her face using her sleeves as she tried to breathe. her eyes were swollen, a little red.
" i just remembered something. " she chuckled, like it was nothing. but i couldn't smile.
i cupped her cheeks, as i stare through her eyes. it was still twinkling from the unfallen tears.
" i hope it fades away. " i said, in a low voice.
" what? " she asked, as she returned the gaze.
" the pain, your sadness. all of it. i hope it fades away forever. " i said, brushing her hair, giving her a small, sad smile.
she smiled.
" i hoped so, too. " my brows furrowed at her words. 'hoped'?
" why the past tense? " i asked, with curiosity.
" never mind. " she replied with a smile and started to walk back to the fence. i stood there for a couple of seconds, contemplating her words, before following her.
she was silent the whole time i walked her home. but when we reached her door, she stopped and gave me a reassuring smile. when i thought she would never utter single word until i go home, she spoke as she was about to close the door.
" hoping for the pain to fade away is also wishing to forget him. "
