Chapter 6 - Rue 2.0

Recap:

She looks just like, like Rue

Peeta must see it too. His eyes are soft.

"Hello, my name is Nova Graveolens," she says.

Before she can finish I blurt out "You look just like her" everybody but Peeta gives me a quizzical look.

"Who?" she asks.

"Rue" I choke out. No Katniss. Be strong.

"Yes" she whispers "She was my sister. Did you know her? We were both young when she died." she whispers

"Yes" I say. "Not here and not now. But, I did know here and I will tell you about her." her face instantly lights up. Haymitch whistles the 4 note tune. Peeta and I do the three finger salute.

"Not helping Haymitch." Says Effie

"What did you guys just do?" asks Rye. Peeta looks at him with sad eyes.

"Nova's sister died right before the rebellion. It's kind of like a recognition symbol to her. Can we please change the subject?" Peeta says.

"We are going to meet the other families that have been selected. Off we go" says Nova. "Follow me"

We all trail behind her. When we step into the elevator memories of Johanna Mason flood my mind. "Remember that time' I can't even finish I'm laughing so hard. It takes a second before Peeta and Haymitch join me.

"Is everything all right" asks a very concerned Nova.

"Yes," I managed to say. Deep breaths I tell myself. At least I'm not crying I think.

"Here we are" says Nova "The penthouse." I suck in a deep breath and hold it. I notice Peeta, Haymitch, and Effie do the same thing. "You go in first" I say "I need to talk to Peeta" Once they all enter I tell Peeta what Haymitch said.

"We might have to tell them here." He says

"I agree. But we need to tell them when the time is right"
