Chapter TwentyFive

(Sodapop's POV)

I got to Ashes and knocked on the door. Her mom answered. Damn did I hate her.
"Hi Mrs. Cade! Ash asked me to come over." She looked at me with a smirk.
"Oh okay. Are you Dallas?"
"Uh no ma'am I'm Sodapop Curtis. You can laugh I know I got a weird name." Her smile faded a little but turned into a more friendly one.
"Oh well Sodapop, she's upstairs, second door to the left."
"Okay thank you!" I ran up to her room and tackled her in a hug.

"SODA!" We we're sitting there for a second before we split.
"What do you wanna do?" I asked.
"Wanna go to the park? Or the movie house?"
"The park sounds good!" We got up and walked downstairs. Her mom grabbed her and pulled her into the kitchen.

(Ashley's POV)

Mom pulled me into the kitchen and
asked, "I thought it was Dallas. His name is Soda?" I laughed a little.
"No mom Soda is my best friend."
"Oh, well he's a cutie. You should go for him." I heard a slight laugh come from the front door. I turned red.
"Okay well we're going to the park! Bye!" I ran out of the kitchen and grabbed Soda's hand. We ran to the park.
"So your mom thinks I'm cute huh? Are you gonna go for me?" He gave me a kiss on my cheek and I laughed.
"Oh shut up! Out of anything you're into me!" I got up and ran away. Soda caught me by my waist and lifted me up.
"No way! Awww Ashley has a crush on me!" He started fake swooning and I hit him. It ended in both of us laughing on the ground.

Me and Soda had been best friends for years. We always had fun moments like these. It felt like five minutes but it must've been hours because the sun was setting. We talked a lot. I'd trust Soda with anything and everything. I told him about me a Dallas. He said he supported it.

"But if he does anything to hurt you, he's a dead man. Got it?" He said half serious, half kidding.
"Okay Soda" I laughed quite a bit.

We got up and walked back to the Curtis home. We walked through the door and started hanging out with the gang. Me, Soda, and Steve sat at the table and started a card game.

"Deal me in." Dally sat next to me. I smiled a little. That is until Johnny pulled a chair in between us. I squinted my eyes at Dally and he did it back. Johnny cleared his throat and Steve sealed him in. I could tell he was just here to keep a watch on Winston and I.

We played the game and Steve won, he was really good at poker. Me and Dal went outside.
"Johnny a helicopter brother or what?" I laughed and so did he.
"Yep a little. Alright Ashley you gotta get home before Johnny has a heart attack. I mean you're out here with me after all." He gave me a wink and a smirk.
"In your dreams Winston." I winked back at him. He smiled bit his lip and looked down blushing. Adorable.
