My Official Return: Hello Old Friend

Y/n's Pov

So after 0 sleep, I get ready to face the biggest terror in my life. My (adoptive) mother. I realize now that I was probably really anxious and that it probably seems like I was saying my final farewells last night but- still.

"You look dead." I hear a knock on my door and look over to see my brother.

"No sleep."

"Oh, anxious?"

"Noooo~"

"I see, you know you'll be fine right?"

"Mmm."

"Y/n?"

"Mm?"

"She's not hearing you Nao~" I hear Takashi chime as he walks by.

"Nao?" I ask, looking at Naozumi. He shrugs.

"New to me too." He smiles. "Need anything before you head back out?"

"Mmm nope! Just have the funeral plans ready~" I say with a lopsided grin, hopping up.

"You're not allowed to die on us!" I hear Shisui call and laugh lightly.

"What about get murdered?" I yell back.

"You're coming back alive, you hear?!" Kushina yells and I nod.

"Yes ma'am!" I say. "Well, I'm off, see you laterz~" With that I leave, without eating, to the Hokage's office. I wonder if she's mad. What if she attacks? Can I beat that? Fighting in training and fighting in real time are seriously different. Much less someone your care about...

"You look worried~" I turn to see Yahiko.

"Well..."

"I can't blame you~ I think everyone a bit worried though. Not mad... well, not mad at you anyways~ you've got nothing to worry about~"

"Sure," I say with a shrug. "But worry can lead to irrational decisions. Irrational decisions like PUNCHING ME IN THE FACE!"

"Can't argue there, good luck~" He says with a small laugh, running off as I arrive at the building. I go inside and look around. It is really nice to be back here though...

I take a breath as I stand before the Hokage door. Here we go... I knock and it's followed by a 'you may come in'. So I open the door and walk in to see mom doing paperwork.

"Hey, I'm... home," I say and she drops what she's doing and gets up immediately.

"I was so worried about you!" She pulls me into a hug immediately. However, when she pulls away, she points sternly. "I'm proud of you but seriously!?"

"I'm... so sorry. I was fed up with everyone, namely Naozumi, telling me that I needed to train harder. I just..."

"You took my guards off their post of protecting the village!"

"Sorry..." She raises her hand and I brace to be smacked but she pats my head.

"As if I'd hit you over something like that." She scoffs and I nod lightly.

"Right..."

"You sound doubtful."

"That's cause I am, mom." I say with a sheepish laugh.

"I'm more mad that that damned snake thinks he can get away with touching you!" She growls and I notice a nice new dent that's now in the floor from her foot.

"Uh-"

"And if he DARES to touch you again, I swear!" She starts to go on a tangent and I let out a laugh. Mostly out of relief to be honest. Of course... I can't really rest anytime soon either.
