The quaint feeling of glee Charlie feels within the pit of her stomach is quite indescribable as she hears the enigmatic sound of her new scooter's engine die down, before drawing the key out of its hole. She parks Felicity nearest to the wall at the back of the Hospital facility, where no other vehicle would find the spot suiting for them. The trauma of losing Felicia is weaved across her head as she drived her new pink scooter earlier. She's going to take better care of Felicity even if it does not hold any sentimental value from one of her deceased family, or anyone special for that matter.
She gracefully hops off of the scooter, fixing her bag at the side of her hip and swipes a baby hair away from her fringe before grabbing the huge picnic basket from the front of Felicity. Heaving a deep breath, she starts walking towards the wide entrance of the white building and is greeted by a familiar face.
"Oi Charlie, long time no see." Steve is a buff black man taking up the responsibility of guarding the hospital entrance. He and the blonde have been quite familiar with each other since Charlie can remember.
He has his eyes casted over Charlie's small frame, a fond smile making its way to the man's lips upon seeing a doting face visiting the dreary facility after a long while. The way he hook both his thumbs around two of his belt loops makes him seem even more taller and intimidating as he straightens up his shoulders, but it contrasts the friendly expression taking over his face.
Charlie has stopped walking from the moment she heard Steve. Pausing in front of him, she holds the weight of her basket full of desserts with both of her hands and she smiles brightly up at him.
"Wow," Charlie starts and looks him over, a wide grin etched on her innocent freckled face. "Have you been working out a lot lately? You look so different, Steve. A good kind of different. I almost haven't recognised you." Of course, the two of them know that she's just flattering him. Well, Charlie did see the difference in his physic but she added the last bit for some effect on the compliment.
It's just one of Charlie's unique and vibrant quality...partly the reason why people love her. Although they know she's just saying things to make them feel good about their selves and they don't believe her, they tolerate her because in a way, it makes things even more bearable than looking at things in a negative way.
People don't know how just one simple smile and positive word could turn things around for the better.
And Charlie does just that...but she doesn't, for the life of her, know her effect on these people.
Steve waves his hand in front of him evasively, brushing off the compliment but is beaming and showing his pearly whites as a result. "Same old Charlie." His remark is paired with a shake of the head, snorting. "You shall pass now, Bambi Eyes." His hand sweeps over to his side, showing the blonde girl the way though she already knows the place like the back of her hand.
Charlie scoffs at the mention of his old nickname for her and begins walking towards the entrance.
"Bambi Eyes." Charlie repeats, laughing to herself as she passes by his towering height.
"I never forget, Charlie. Go on now and don't take too long before the head nurse do some rounds." His gruff voice catches up to her as she steps in the building.
He knows Charlie would have taken long to chat with him for a while, but her time to sell her goodies to the hospital staffs before the head nurse catches her is limited. They both know that he and Charlie would catch up later...if she ever makes it out alive.
