Peace

Sabi nga nila, there's always a peaceful silence after the huge storm. Just like me right now, I feel in peace even though there's still danger ahead of me. If I will leave the premises of Andro, surely, I will never feel this comfort again.

But maybe I'm just exaggerating. Maybe, I just feel this peacefulness because everyone here knows who I really am and from where I came from. Plus, I never been home since that day I decided to leave, so I can't tell if I will still feel this tranquility. I'm sure they will tighten the security even more at home. Pero, iba pa rin kapag narito sa isla. No one would thought that for almost a month, Aeisha Aquino is in the island. And to highlight the unexpected part, I'm staying in Zeus Alejandro Hortellano's dwelling.

It's surprising. That's why I don't really want either of my parents and most especially my father, to know this newsflash. Surely, all hell breaks loose.

So maybe that saying is true, because I even experienced it. There's always a storm after the calm silence. Who would even though that it will start one day.

I'm in the bed, already preparing for my sleep. I have done my daily skin routines and just waiting for my eyes to get tired and fell asleep by reading a book. I found this in the things that Bianca sent to me before. It was so considerate of her to include this on the clothes I asked even though I didn't mentioned anything about books. I may not look like it, but I actually love reading. Dumalang nga lang noong gumraduate ako at nagsimula nang magtrabaho sa aming kumpanya.

I'm concentrating and absorbing the lines of my favorite book, when I heard a chime from my cheap phone. I can't help but groan when my focus is interrupted.

It's a message from an unknown number. I tried to ignore it at first and didn't read the message. Nga lang, naalala ko, there were just four individuals who knows my number. Bianca, Nay Rosa, Andro and Mama. I also saved their numbers on my phone in case of emergency.

Inabot kong muli ang cellphone bago ko pa man maituloy ang binabasa sa libro. My brows squinted because of some random message.

"See you?" I whispered while reading the message. Who's this?

Binalewala ko na lang ang nabasa. Nagkamali lang siguro sa pagsend nito sa akin. Maybe it's never really supposed to be mine and some random person accidentally typed the wrong digits.

Kinabukasan, nakita ko na ulit si Andro sa bahay. Kinagabihan kasi ng araw ng birthday niya, bigla na lang siyang umuwi sa kanila. I already have a hint what possibly the reason is. At tama nga ako dahil kinabukasan, binalitaan na lang ako ni Bianca na may engradeng pa-birthday party daw ang mga Hortellano.

See? I'm right all along. They won't wish to let this celebration slip away without throwing a grand social gathering. It's actually one of the tactics of some businessmen to get their empires grow wider and bigger.

Besides, he's the successor of their business. So there's no reason that his birthday will be just like any ordinary day.

Something has changed the way I looked at Andro that is busy clicking the keyboards of his laptop. He's wearing casual outfit: tee-shirt and sweatpants. Mukhang hindi siya lalabas ng bahay ngayon at nakataas pa ang mga paa habang nasa kandungan ang kanyang laptop.

When I tried to figure out what's new to him, I noticed his new haircut. Not bad, he actually looked more... decent.

Ako naman, hawak ko ang puson dahil sa umaatakeng dysmenorrhea. I woke up earlier feeling unwell and when I checked in the bathroom, my period welcomed me. I tried to look for some napkins in the room but there's none. Kaya naman, naisipan kong tanungin si Nay Rosa kung may extra ba siyang dala o kung saan pwedeng makabili.
