"Welcome, welcome, to our Beginning of the Year Assembly!" Principal Master Hand shouted. He was in his usual black shirt, white button down vest, white pants, nice black shoes, and white earring in one ear. His brown eyes roamed the gym, while his light, white hair stood out against the brown of the gym floor and walls.
Many of the older Smashers who had been to a Smash school before cheered loudly. I was one of them.
"I hope that yesterday was not too bad, and that you all got to find your rooms and do whatever else you needed to do."
More cheers.
"Yes. Good. Quiet please."
The audience settled down.
"Now this year, Smash has come up with another new end of the year challenge for our Smashers. In the last trimester of each school year, we host a large challenge for the Smashers. Last year, it was a Smash Tour, in which the Miis and a guest recruited as many players possible from the Smash Roster and stat boosts before the final battle. Give the Miis some credit!"
I cheered along with many others for the Miis, who stood up and bowed.
"This year, we will be introducing something called a Tourney. It will basically be a tournament to determine our Smasher of the Year. Along with the Tourney, you will be given additional tests that will give you advantages or elimination immunity to whoever wins them."
Murmurs of interest and excitement ran through the crowd.
"This sounds so exciting! Right Goddess?" Pikachu whispered to me, tugging excitedly on his yellow hoodie. Goddess was one of my nicknames.
"I can't wait to start. Can you, Pat?" Jiggypuff giggled from my right. "I'm gonna have to make some chants for the new Smashers!"
"I'm just as thrilled as you guys," I responded.
"Now, because of the assembly, Assistant Principal Crazy Hand, your teachers, and I have decided to cut your classes shorter, so that you still end at the same time you normally would."
Cheers rang out through the gym. I hollered along enthusiastically as well. Looks like we wouldn't be spending an extra hour on school after all.
Pit and Dark were giving me surprised looks. I wasn't surprised, I was usually quite reserved around them. But, that wasn't going to happen here. Here was my element.
I grinned at them, causing Pit to grin back and Dark to blush.
"Dismissed!" he shouted, stepping back to get out of the way of the influx of students that poured onto the floor from the risers and out the double doors. I grabbed Dark and Pit as to not lose them.
As soon as their was a gap in the masses, I tugged the two boys into the chaos after me.
"Pat! You and your boyfriends meet us at the Deku Tree Monument after school!" Popo shouted. He and his sister were standing on the bleachers as to see us. I waved my hand in acknowledgement to the Climber siblings.
"Boyfriend! I'm not your boyfriend!" Pit exclaimed. Dark was bright red and had a hand on his face.
"He means guy friends. Friends that are boys," I told the twins.
"Oh," Pit said.
Dark mumbled something that I couldn't hear over the noise.
We had our first class together. We hurried out of the main building and off to the left. This class was in the part of the campus dedicated to the Mushroom Kingdom, due to the teacher's origins. It was Caption Toad, who would be teaching the dangers of adventuring and how to stay as safe as possible.
