I walked down to the beach, I knew I was early, but I didn't care. I needed to get out of the stuffy house. I sat on the warm sand staring off into space, when Neo came and stood in front of me.
"Afternoon Finley!" He said.
I grinned. "Afternoon, Lipke!" We both laughed and Neo helped me up. "Race ya to the water!" I yelled, before running off toward the water.
"No fair! You got a head start!" Neo yelled. I ran through the water as fast as I could, laughing at Neo, who was several feet behind me. We swam for hours upon hours, before walking along the shore. Just talking. When I heard them. Sirens.
Into the sea... hold you close to me...
The siren sang. I grabbed Neo's hand, and began running away from the water, only to trip and fall, getting a face full of sand. Neo's feet seemed to be glued to the sand. I was too late.
"Neo!" I screamed. "Neo, wake up! It's me! We need to leave! Now!" No matter what I screamed he only moved closer to the sea. At this point I could see the siren. She had long flowy red hair and a black tail. She was gorgeous. I started to cry, I couldn't do anything, Neo was going to die.
Slide neath the waves... down into the caves...
The siren sang. I remembered the countersong. I only learned part of it as I had gotten bored halfway through and had stopped trying. "This better work." I said tears still streaming down my face.
Stay away from me... release me from thy spell...
I stuttered out the words, but it didn't work. Neo was even closer to the water, in fact he was wadding in it. I ran up to him and grabbed his arm and tugged it. "Come on Neo! Snap out of it!" I yelled in his face. He just looked at me with no emotion. The siren suddenly grabbed his other arm and yanked him into the water. I fell backwards on the hot sand. I jumped up as fast as I could and ran into the water. I transformed as well, my tail making me go faster in the water. I gasped when I saw Neo, he was beginning to wake up from the spell and was starting to thrash and get to the surface. I swam down to him not seeing the siren and tried to pull him up to the surface. He looked at me shocked to see I no longer had legs. I looked down to see one of his feet was tangled up in some seaweed. I swam down and ripped the seaweed quickly, when he didn't start to swim up, I realized he must have lost consciousness. I grabbed him and pulled him to the surface. As soon as he got air in his lungs he began to wake up again. I pushed him onto land before trying to haul myself. He coughed a few times, as I was pulling myself into land, he opened his eyes and screamed.
"Calm down!" I yelled. "Do you want me to get caught?"
"What the heck! You have a tail!" He stuttered.
"Yes I do, now shut your pie hole and help me." I held out my hand for him to grab and he did. With his help I managed to get back on land. I concentrated on removing my tail before I looked back at him. His eyes were full of fear and worry. I sighed. "I'll have to tell you everything. But not now. Meet me back here tomorrow. At noon. Then we'll talk." I said, I pulled myself to my feet and walked off.
What have I done?
What do ya think? For anyone who's wondering, the song I used for both the counter song and siren song is from Mako Mermaids. You can Google the song if you want :) hope you enjoyed!!
