Iris's POV
I woke up to someone knocking on my door. "Come in!" I called as I rubbed my eyes.
"Hey, how you doin?" Neo asked. He looked exhausted.
"I'm good, you?"
"Not great. I couldn't sleep last night. I tried texting you, but you never got back to me."
I cringed, "Yeah sorry about that, a lot of things happened last night."
"I've got all day."
"You'll want to sit down."
Neo sat down at the end of my bed, and I started telling him what happened the night before.
"Ok, let me get this straight. You were chased by a shark, you found out not only is your dad alive but he's also a mermaid, and that Lily might be a mermaid too." Neo said.
"Sounds about right." I nodded.
"Wait what happened to Alex?"
I frowned. "He ditched me."
"He did what?!" Neo yelled. He looked about ready to murder Alex.
"Neo, cool it."
"But he didn't help you! You could have died!"
"But I didn't. For all I know something pulled him underwater."
"Fine, but next time I see him I'll-" Neo then started rambling about how he wanted to"talk" to Alex. I rolled my eyes.
"Alright. Out, I'm going to change." I said, pointing at the door.
"But I like you just the way you are." Neo grinned. I glared and he laughed. He walked out of my room and I pulled out my clothes for the day, I decided on a white crop- button down shirt with a knot at the bottom, and jean shorts. I thought about putting my swimsuit underneath my clothes, but I decided against it. I walked out of my room to see Neo talking with Lily and my mother silent in the kitchen.
"What should we do?" I asked him.
"Can I come?" Lily perked up.
"Sorry Lil, not today ok?" I said.
"I was thinking we could go to the beach." Neo said.
"Ok." I walked over to the front door and started to pull on some brown sandals. "Do you want to go to yours to get your swimsuit?"
"I've already got mine on." Neo smirked.
"Aren't you prepared." I laughed.
"You're not wearing yours are you?"
"No."
Neo laughed and I stomped back to my room and pulled on my swimsuit. When I got back Neo was on the floor rolling with laughter. I rolled my eyes and told him to get up.
"Do you have walkie talkies?" Neo asked when he was back on his feet.
"Yeah, why?" I asked.
"Just in case we get lost."
"Ok." I went to my mom's room and dug through some boxes, I found the talkies and went back to the hallway, and tossed one to Neo. Lily was still pouting in the corner. "Ready?" I asked.
"As I'll ever be." Neo answered.
