Chapter 11

Alex's POV

I had to admit, the girl was pretty, she had long white blond hair, and pale skin, she even had a green tail like me, though hers was more of a sea green. She stopped dead in her tracks and began to look around. She seemed nervous. She suddenly looked down and screamed. Dang it,she saw me. I thought I was doing a good job at hiding. She began swimming up to the surface, and before I knew what I was doing, I swam after her. I grabbed for her tail, and once I had her in my grip she screamed again.

"Will you shut up?!" I demanded. She went quiet. "Finally, thank you for being quiet." I said.

"Who are you?" She asked, her voice trembled.

"I could ask you the same thing. I've never seen you before, and I know everyone. So who are you?" I asked.

"I'm Iris." She stuttered, even her voice was beautiful.

"Well Iris, I'm Alex. Nice to meet you." I let go of her tail and swam up to her to look her in the eye. She had stormy gray eyes. I held out my hand for her to shake,and she stared at it as if she had never shaken someone's hand, she grabbed my hand and shook it, though she let go immediately after.

"I need to go home." She muttered.

"Okay." I said, I made my way down before realizing she wasn't beside me. I looked up to see her swimming toward the surface. "Where are you going?" I called. She stopped to look at me.

"Uh, home?" She said.

"But, homes this way." I said, confused.

"Not for me." She said, and continued on her way. I started calling for her, but she ignored me. So I chased after her. I stopped calling for her, as I knew she wouldn't respond. As we got closer to the shore, her tail started to glow. Her tail was gone. Replaced by legs. I stopped. She was human. And mermaid? Even her hair became shorter. She crawled into shore and ran for the nearby rocks. She climbed over them and ran out of view. What was she? And why did I care?
