Ji Young

Dad's crying...

That means she's...

He's just staring off into the distance, sniffling as tears continued to roll down as he was in disbelief "Ji Young... Our precious little angel- my sweet pea... It's just going to be you and me from now on, ok? Your mom is... no longer here anymore. I'll do my best to make sure you grow up well. I promise."

He's continuously blinking back his tears as the video ends and it quickly cuts to a separate video clip of baby me again, asleep in mom's arms.

"What're you doing, babe?" Mom asked while giving dad a confused look, who was behind the camera.

"I'm filming your first mother-daughter dance with Ji Young, my love." Dad answers with a smile in his voice "You two look absolutely adorable."

He then takes a few steps back to show a full body view of mom and I while she's swaying her body side to side, gently rocking me to sleep.

"So? What do you thinking about kids after being a mom for almost three months? Are you sure you still wanna have more kids?" He asks, but couldn't really hold a straight face at the scene in front of him.

"Of course I do, love" She beams as she strokes my cheek "She may have woken us up many nights as well as given me a lot of back pain, but having moments like these make it all worth it."

She then kisses my cheek and then looks up to dad behind the camera. She then stares at him as a big smile grew on her face as she says in a hushed tone "So can we have another one soon?"

Even though I couldn't see dad's face at all, I could tell he was taken aback by her question. Shocked, even. Whatever expression it was, it caused her to laugh.

"My love, it's only been three months!" He whisper shouts in an attempt to not wake me up "Your body is still recovering, it takes time before you're ready for another one."

"But babe~" she whines while pouting her "We agreed on having a big family, right? I wanna make sure she has siblings so that she isn't lonely."

I hear dad heave out a sigh "I know, but we have all the time in the world for that." he then leaned forward to kiss her forehead "Let's wait until Ji Young is a year old before we try to have another baby, ok?"

"You promise?" She then gives him puppy dog eyes while batting her lashes.

"Of course, my love." he promises as he puts his pinky up so it could be seen in frame, their pinkies interlocking "You know I could never say no to you."

My heart melted seeing them like that, but of course the moment had to be interrupted as the video cuts one final time. This time it was another clip of dad by himself, head in his hands while he's sobbing. Behind him are a bunch of flower wreaths usually seen at funerals. The camera was was a little shaky, but it was clear enough to show a casket and a picture of mom surrounded by white flowers.

Oh.

The frame is shaky while there's babbling going on behind the camera. It surprised me that somehow two year old me figured out how to navigate a phone like that, but I was probably fiddling around the camera app and accidentally pressed record.

Toddler me was running towards a grief stricken dad, tapping him on the knee with my tiny hands to get his attention while saying "Daddy! Daddy!"

Wiping his tears and sniffling, he sees me in front of him puts his glasses back on. Blinking his tears away, it takes him a moment to process what I was doing before reaching forward and taking his phone out of my hands.
