Chapter 28-
Recap-
I heard a sharp intake of breath from James. The power and authority his mere voice has really enlightens me. I wish I had that kind of authority. It would be so much fun, ordering everyone around with my booming and authoritative voice.
I chucked at the thought and cleared my throat.
Let's practice this.
"Hello Havoc."
—————
"Are you mimicking your father?"
"Well," I grinned shrugging, "I'm not. I'm just trying to be intimidating like him. See James over here? He is trebling in his shoes. I wish I had that effect on people."
I gasped as I felt a pinch on my arm.
"What is wrong with you?" I whisper-hissed at James, rubbing the area he pinched.
"What is wrong with me?! What is wrong with you? You are standing in front of the King and you have not even the slightest bit of fear." He whisper- hissed back at me. His voice almost trembling.
I scoffed, "I don't scare easily. If you remember, you guys tortured me for weeks and I still didn't break. So.."
We heard someone clear a throat near us, breaking us out of our banter.
"Hi again." I smiled sheepishly at Havoc and Uma, fear creeping in my veins and I had no idea why.
"Did you just say you were tortured?" Havoc asked, his voice dangerously low, his eyes holding the wrath of the seven seas. But his face remained deadly calm.
A shiver went down my back just thinking of what he would do to my new found friends. Even though the friendship is one sided.
I clasped my hands behind my back and swayed back and forth on my heels, avoiding eye contact with everyone.
"Umm.." I cleared my throat very uncomfortably, "I did not say that."
James was looking at me in disbelief and horror whereas Havoc, was giving him the deadliest glare ever.
Poor James was shaking in his shoes.
And Uma, was standing there, snickering.
"Are you actually laughing right now?" I scoffed pointing at her and shaking my head in disbelief.
"Pardon me," she let out a small laugh, "But this situation is very hilarious. Seeing the two of you, especially your friend there scared is the highlight of my century right now."
"What makes you think I'm scared?" I said pointing at myself and giving her a disgusted look.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night, mija." She chuckled once again, shaking her head.
I scoffed and huffed, crossing my arms, "I am not scared."
They walked towards us and I felt a ripple of energy go through me.
It drained all colour off of my face. I felt cold and the air suddenly got chilly and a fog crept in through the woods.
Who am I kidding. I'm as scared as James here next to me.
"My king," James bowed and got down on his knees, his closed fist over his chest and his voice trembling in fear, "I solemnly swear my life, my loyalty and my honour to thee, my Liege. I shall faithfully serve no one else but you and your Queen till my last breath. I forfeit my mission so I shall serve you."
